can't help you with the fix, but you should get zone labs alarm when you finally get it sorted out. (about 16 mos ago I got some viruses and ended up wiping my pc and reformating) I haven't had any problems on any computer I have run Zone Labs Alarm on.
I forgot: with the zone labs stuff you can deny stuff from accessing the internet, and it also blocks anythng that would otherwise auto download. Nothing seems to get by it. (I don't have the professional version, but my dad has it at work, and if you get it you can get hackers ip addresses, email addresses, and even their Street addresses and phone numbers. Some guys I know have had fun with this. Note: I'm pretty sure zonelabs is the stuff you can track people with, it could be another program though. I do know that it works great though) This post has been edited by jd74914: Jan 14 2005, 03:13 PM |

I had one last year that constantly popped up " about blank" and would keep popping up new windows. Afetr trying about 6 different scaners, I was told to try ANTI VIR and it worked the first time. Only problem is when it is on your time really slows down. Oh yeah it made by a GERMAN company!!! Imagine that.

hahahha not funny (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) anyway... could this have anything to do with being hooked up to a huge LAN without a firewall? |

Yes. Take Andy's advice. Reformat your hard drive and install a Linux distro. Try Fedora. It has Firefox and Open Office in the distribution. For IM, download GAIM. What else does a college student need? |

XP SP 2 has firewall protection in it you may just have to set it up. Also Norton Internet security has a firewall with it.
