that's a beautiful build!
maybe McMark can comment, but how does a big /4 like this compare to a /6 with similar size/displacement? is there a cost advantage one vs the other? i am always curious why we do what we do, one other question, how much boost are you running? -love the sound of the tangerine system! Phil |

Phil Thanks! If I could go back in time... knowing what I know now... I would have gone a different route. Something a bit more cost friendly!! As for boost... I don't know at this point as I have not driven it yet. I have shift rod issues that I'm working out at the moment. How did you know that was a tangerine system? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/evilgrin.gif) Maybe its about time I change my signature... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) |

Nice...makes some wonder if it's worth it to install a 2.2 /2.4 -6 in one of these.
Did some one say 300 hp? |

Very cool. Any projections on reliability or possible issues to look for in such a large displacement? I am assuming from your post that it was not cost friendly, but it is wicked cool and well done.

maybe McMark can comment, but how does a big /4 like this compare to a /6 with similar size/displacement? Turbos aside, the fours tend to have torque come on lower down, whereas the sixes make horsepower. Which is to say, fours can put you back in your seat, but taper off as RPM increases while sixes are a slower build and when they start to breathe, they really move. But all that is a massive generality. 78 /103 82/100 actually. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

I then had the case thermal coated. That nearly ended this project and cannot thank Mark enough for saving the build!!!! That's another story..... |

Finally got the big bugs resolved. Now just a few little things. Here is a quick video. Please excuse the very poor quality. I was by myself. Next time I will recruit a dedicated camera person!!

Why don't you bring it to breakfast on the 25th? I think we'd all like to see it.

Low boost non- intercooled, or are you spraying water-meth into it? I saw the vid real quick...must have missed the intercooler. Marty No intercooler planned for now. in the quest for Mo Power... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gss8Br_e2rg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bhff2feNaRw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEPBTbMpz1Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3APsoYftE38 more boost, more power, more heat. An eventual compromise limiting boost and inlet air temps must be made before detonation sets in. Those pistons look too nice to hole. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCn5UT3_XJDklF3Si7dJmSiA This is beautiful, polished, sounds very nice, malevolent even. I recall a 914 turbo'ed with a 924 setup and raced. Excellence did a few pages on the car, pointed me to my purchase. Painted a 911 custom blue I liked. Good read for the approach used. |
