Howard,
What are the approximate distances? It takes a long time to get to each side of LA much less between Camarillo, Paramount Ranch, and Lancaster/Willow Springs track. Felix |

It takes a long time to get to each side of LA much less between Camarillo, Paramount Ranch, and Lancaster/Willow Springs track. Felix Felix, glad you asked so I can brag a bit (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) One of the biggest problems we faced was avoiding LA traffic. That's why Camarillo was selected for the starting point. The Inland empire and San Diego/Orange county guys get stuck, but they have a shorter drive than you NorCal types. All of the events are located north or west of LA. If you map Bay area to Camarillo, there are no real traffic spots on that route. Camarillo to Paramount is less than 20 miles by freeway, but we'll make it much longer with Mulholland Highway twisty tour and poker run. The trip from Camarillo to Lancaster is serious, almost 90 miles. But by doing this mid day Sunday, and not going through the city, it shouldn't take more than 1.5 hours. All freeway with some 70mph limit. Leaving the track late in the day Monday is likewise easy. Straight shot via 138 to I5 for youse guys, and SoCal members would head back against rush hour traffic. All this could blow up, of course, with one Sigalert, but we tried. |

you can never start planing too early. just for drill i checked out expedia for the route to camarillo. their directions take the I5-405-101 drive, right into the belly of the beast. what is hwy 126 like? 16 hrs and change.

Really depends on your ETA. 405/101 is brutal during rush hours in either direction, but shortest. Good news is you only have to face it on incoming trip. 126 is very open. The trick is getting from the 5 to the 101. You may want to do it just south of the bay area as the 101, while a bit longer, is much prettier, and you'll have to face the 5 boredom going home. Just my dos centavos. |

QUOTE(jimtab @ Nov 17 2004, 04:23 PM) QUOTE(Paul Heery @ Nov 11 2004, 02:57 PM) OK, I just made my reservation at the Inn of Lancaster. I booked a room with two beds in case anyone needs to crash. I haven't made my reservation for a room in Camarillo yet. I'm not sure if I can afford the Hampton depending on what the track fees will be. :D BTW, this picture was on the Inn of Lancaster web site. A good omen? You'd better check your reservations, I just got off the phone with them and they said they are not taking ANY reservations for 2005 until the 2nd week of December??? So, Howard, wasssup? BTW I'm locked and loaded for the 22-23 at the Hampton, when do you want the 150.00? Jim, all fixed, but you better call them again to verify. See first post for updated details. |

Howard,
Even if my car is in shape for the long drive, I doubt I will last the long harsh ride, no heat, and no tunes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) Now I'm thinking semi-trailering a bunch of us down. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I'll bet that will be a rare site. Felix |
