(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif) Whoo hoo! All is back from the blasters!! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) I am so happy I ponied up the coin to have this done! It has saved me over 3 weeks of personal stripping--not to mention all the defects the strip job has found for me that I might have not seen!!!! How much, and how long did it take? |

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) 575 Clams and it was coarse baking soda medium---man did it do a nice job--it put just the right amount of texture into the metal to accept the urethane primer coat---that primer is not going anywhere and the entire car is sealed up----notice how it left the caulking behind---these guys can tailor the strip rate to remove anything--or--remove only what is not already stuck tenaciously to the metal--which is a very good indicator that nothing is wrong under those areas..... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beer.gif) It took two days-----whoo-hoo! Ifn anybody in southFl is interseted in getting this done I will give a shout out to the guy involved: His name is Luis--and works at a company called "Enviro-strip" Based out of Fort Lauderdale on Marina mile. They are located inside a huge boatyard--as that is what they normally do is boats--but they have several mobile units--he says I am the third car he has done--one of the others was a Jensen-Healy (SP?) thay do aircraft and all kinds of stripping...Cannot strongly recommend enough (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wub.gif) these fine lads--they do not do primer--but he hooked me up with a boat rebuilder on site and he took it on for a side job....talk about all the angles coming to a point at one location!!!! The car looks great. I don't see a whole lot of issues with this car. It looks like a great starting point.

Now that that's done, time to put in that Inner Long Stiff kit :-) If it's going to be a street car w/o a cage that is. I'm jealous, car looks great and you didn't have to break the bank (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif)

I see what looks like the brake proportioning valve and the wiring harness still in the car! what did you leave on/in the chaisis? I always assumed I would have to take out the wireing harness and everything, and I have been putting it all off for that reason! (I have the "as long as..." disease bad! As long as I'm doing this, I might as well do that).
how did yoo protect what you left in? any info would be apreciated. |

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) Thanks everybody!!! Go pack--I could have done this--but I want to ride now!!! and the old harness is in such good shape I could not bring myself to possibly "F" something up in the process--it ain't easy for how far i got it to this point. I removed the fuse block and pulled all the wire back to just the point where it all goes inside the tunnel. I then balled it all up and double trash bagged it and blue taped the neck of the bag to about one foot away from it, so everything from outside the tunnel is wrapped-- Same thing in the hell hole--only I blue taped the rubber harness covers where they protrude from the chassis, and then balled everything up and bagged it all. I was not concerned with color coded wire--all I was concerned about is the codes where they terminate--the entire loom is going to be re-taped so any overspray is nothing to worry about. Saved me allot of time and extreme cussing from pulling and replacing all that wire thru the tunnel-------and again to emphasize---it is all just the way it was put in the car--to a degree--I KNOW I did not screw anything up!!! |
