I have been out in the garage all morning as the snow piles up outside.
This forum is so motivational for me that without it I doubt anything would ever get done.
I just received back from my fabricator the final crossover pipe to fit the K27. It looks beautiful and helps tuck everything up under the rear valance. I am going to drill and notch the back of the cam for the 930 oil scavenge pump to pump the drain oil out of the turbo sump, and use the Tilton electric pump now for a sump drainer for pre-start and cool down.
I had to replace the Flowmaster muffler for a Magnaflow because of the limited space I have with the new height of the K27 but that too should be an improvement as far as fitment.
I am only missing one piece of the puzzle to get it all finished up, that is a 4 bolt exhaust flange for the K27. I can find the similar looking Garretts but they dont have the 2.75" bolt spacing that I need. If anyone out there has an old one or knows where I can find a new one please chime in.
I am debating on installing an intercooler at this time, but with the 7th enrichment injector running 9 to 10lbs I haven't had any problems with predetonation, and I'm not really sure I want to run more boost as the car is plenty fast as it is, and I still wish the 3.0 to hold together.
Pictures will follow when I get it all bolted up.
When the car is finally up and running the next stop will be the body shop.

Did you put in a factory 3.0 turbo motor or turbo a NA 3.0? I would love to see some pics! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/boldblue.gif)

NA 1979 SC 3.0 cis with 7th injector that fires from a 4lb hobbs pressure switch.
I have posted numerous pictures of the old install using the guts of a BAE kit and an old Rayjay To4b Turbo, I had so many problems with oil blow by with the Rayjay that I decided to upgrade to a new K27 which should give me a little more punch and handle the oil without problems.

Very cool. That thing's gotta scream at that boost level, mines scary fast at 7 psi and I'm carrying around an extra 400 pounds or so. Whatcha gonna do with the rajay?

I worked on my car last night too (mad rush to get done in time for hooters).
One of the darned drain flange bolts was too short and it pulled a couple theads out of the turbo housing. i managed to get a longer bolt in there with plenty of engagement so no more leaky.
Boost is good but it's more addicting than crack.

Sammy, I have no need for the Rayjay anymore, I had it rebuilt by Turbo City and had it rechecked by them when I was having scavenging problems, They said the turbo was fine it just wasnt working for me with my drain situation, I have 2 Rayjays if you inrterested in them, The rebuilt has new compressor wheel on it as well, It would be a nice parts turbo. I have extra gaskets and flanges also, make me an offer if your interested.

How do you get the protective plug or cam cap out of the back of the head? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/icon14.gif)

Well I got to the back of the cam and found out the shaft on the 930 oil pump is not long enough to reach deep into the cam to notch. I will have to scratch my head awhile to come up with some options or fabricate something. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/idea.gif)

These guys may have the flange you need, if not they can make one

Flanges

I though the scavenge drive on a 930 had a bolted to the cam with 3 small allen bolts. so you woul just have to drill and tap the cam, not notch anythin in the cam. I put a cam position sensor in a 911 while the engine awas in the car it not that difficult

I just re read my post.. not sure if it made sense... the 930 scavenge pump doesnt drive directly from the cam, you need to bolt something onto the cam that recieves the scavenge pump.

btw there is plenty of room in the trunk for a nice sized intercooler

Tim, thats exactly what I have to do , I can drill and tap two holes into the cam and screw in a couple of allen head cap screws that the pin on the 930 oil pump shaft will be driven by. Not my idea, I just got off the phone with Richard Clewett and it was his solution. Nothing to stop me now, away I go.
