Been there, done that!

I crewed CH46 and CH 53 Helos for 4 years.. and even got to fly front seat in an AH1W Super Cobra on a gun run.....

The video don't do it justice...

It also doesn't show what happens if an unlucky animal just happens to be in range or in sight (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ar15.gif)

Ya YA ya. If you aren't chunking 70 lbs of high exposives and steel 14 miles then you don't know what big guns are. I can put my whole arm down my gun barrel. 5"/54 baby.
New guns on DD(X) are 6" and should be able to hit a trash can lid from better than 50 miles.

"If your enemy is with gun range then so are you" Not anymore!!!!!

Being in the Missouri Battleship Group (Sixth Fleet, back in '87) on my first Persian Gulf cruise, yes, yes I do. However, it makes for less than an exicing New Years Eve display at midnight (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif)

Do torpedos count as big guns? Mine were nuclear and would evaporate a one mile chunk of ocean water in hopes of taking out a submarine. Or the shockwave would take 'em out if we somehow missed (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) DD989 Deyo
