Trying to remove my muffler shield I cut the bracket on each end
What else is holding it? |

The middle ones
Pretty sure there are six; two,two and two On early cars or sixes they are held by sheet metal screws in the trunk. |

there are tabs spotwelded in the center as well. I removed one for a customer a while back and had to use a zip wheel cutting from inside the truck.
No nuts or bolts were holding this one on. Pete |

Paint the underside of the trunk with VHT high-temp paint. It works great as an insulator and will help keep the trunk cooler. I remember reading about a race team years ago that painted the fire wall of the car with VHT and it lowered the cockpit temp. 15 degrees. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I replaced the trunk rear panel and was able to cut away the spot welds and save the heat shield. Mine is now pop riveted with SS rivets |
