Just wanted to share what I've spent in case anybody else is considering doing a conversion. There are 2 catches for my low cost...engine and no external oil cooler yet. I'm testing to see if I need a 2nd oil cooler but even if I do - another $1000 still keeps me below $10,000.
3.0L Engine 1575 ($6300 for project 911, pulled engine and sold car/parts) Weber Carbs 300 Carb Rebuild 1200 Weber Manifolds 400 MSDS Headers 550 Kennedy Flywheel/Clutch 725 Oil Cooler Mod 200 Vellios Oil Tank 625 (terrible engineering added ~$150 to my costs) Oil Lines - Summit 200 Oil Lines - Racer Parts 256 PMS Motor Mount 480 Engine Tin 300 Distributor Rebuild/Recurve 835 MSD 300 Extra Coil 50 Welding 60 Pelican Orders 460 Muffler 500 Random Parts 140 Alternator Rebuild 100 Fan Powdercoat 80 Electrical 250 Sub Total: $9,586 Sold /4 engine, exhaust, mount, gauges, misc: -$800 Total: $8,786 |

when i do the math, i get 9,586. Did you use stock 6 gauges from the donor? Probably another couple hundred for shipping charges.

My number factors in selling of the /4 engine along with parts associated with it. Yes I got oil and tach gauges from the donor car. I bought a stand-alone fuel gauge and moved it to the center console. And I drove the car from Austin to Houston. It was a major project car that barely managed to be driveable! I had a flat-bed friend on speed dial. |
