've got a set of dual webers IDF 40 carbs.

Anyone know how to properly set the float level height on these things.

I've got a set of vernier calipers. I'm sure you probably carefully bend one or both of the metal tabs on each float assembly.

What is the proper closed figure and the fully open figure. Thanx all L.

Did a search and the info I found was 10mm closed and 30mm open.

10mm from the gasket with the body held vertical is how I do it.....seems to work for me. 12 mm without the gasket.
Bend the little tab to adjust it.
Be accurate and patient...takes a few attempts

A little tip I got from someone. Use a 10 mm bolt to measure. Check the size with a caliper and then use the head of the bolt against the gasket to set the level. Very quick and easy to use and you can be sure of when the valve is closed.

If this helps any.......Also when you measure the closed position, make sure the valve is closed but don't compress the spring,

And there is some confusion about setting the float level with or without the gasket.
I set mine without, then read it should have been with the gasket.
It currently runs fine, and will do it right next time I pull the tops.

Measure with the gasket.


Set your float too high and the fuel will overflow into the carb throat. Set it too low and will lean out your WOT running.
