We used to call this skitching! Part skiing and part hitching a ride. Although we did it on the back of cars on the road. Great fun as a teenager.
You had to make sure the roads were covered with snow/ice, any bare spots with pavement showing put you down in a hurry.

My dad used to do something similar in Chicago winters to get to school apparently. Although, he didn't have skis........... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif)

Yup. Did it growing up on Long Island, Till my mom watched me going right past our house. Good times!

Beetles have the best bumpers for this.
