For those of you who are more familiar with the DMV and its in and outs...

I have a 71 914 that hasn't been registered since 1998 (says expires 1999, so that means 1998 I think). Does anyone know when/if cars fall out of the DMV system and you don't have to pay all the back fees? I went in a talked with the local DMV a year ago and it was still in the system.

I think seanery is right, both cars I bought there were in non-op status, and I did not have to pay back fees. But I took them both to colorado. I later found out how lucky I was by not getting pulled over, cause they could have held the car In CA till it was straighted out! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Both times I did a fly and drive I was pulled over with expired tags, once only 2 miles into nevada, Whew! When I called the CA DMV cause I had a prob with one of the titles the lady was very nice (the car had hundereds of dollars of back fees) After I told her I flew in and drove the car back to CO, she told me to hang up and call "her" back and restate that I "trailered" the car to CO. And all was well (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
