Does the term "Herding Cats" come to mind?...... I suggest someone with a sense of authority pic a date and place and lets see who gets there on time and prepared to have a good time. The summer in SoCal is upon us and it gets over 85 over the hill in July.
And after all, sometimes even with a few less cars attending, after a while, it seems like a mile of cars...

Barbara Jane Fuchs: Come down and see the, uh, mile of cars we have on our lot. Rudy: Did she just say "mile of cars"?

Uh Forest, we already did that. See post #25. Just been awaiting a response from you. When did you get out? Hope you didn't get the same judge twice in a row. That happened to Elyut one time. He couldn't go back to Utah for 7 years.

Erin and I would like to attend but we'll be a little late. Our daughters first swim meet is that morning. We might have to meet you at the first winery.

That works. My daughter and son in law will probably do the same. I'm just getting the head count this week then call the 5 wineries on my list to see if we can get parking, etc. I'll post the wineries and pm my cell# next week. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

You got it, Cesar! OK, everyone has been in touch and the list is updated. If I haven't sent you a PM w/ location info, LMK. Looks like 8 couples for lunch and 2 more couples joining us later at one of the wineries.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_bump.gif) I made a few calls today and most could not be helpful given that we will be in the rush hour. However, Doffo Winery http://www.doffowines.com/about-doffo/ was nice enough to spend some time with me on the phone and wants to accommodate us and our parking needs. They are also the closest one on our route. Down the street is Wilson Creek with tons of parking but it may be a Jungle that afternoon. If it is we head to Wien's which is reasonably priced and also great place but it too may be packed as it is on Rancho Cal Rd. If that's the case we hit some of the Wineries on De Portelo Rd. There are several off the beaten path but we will be "time challenged" and if we squeeze in 3 wineries I'll be surprised. Most of these places close around 6 on Saturday. Check out Doffo's site. He collects and displays antique motorcycle's.
Looking forward to it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I put the brisket on at 5pm yesterday. The potato salad turned out purty good too. Starting the coals in 15 min's then the chicken goes on. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chowtime.gif)

Susan and I will attend if I can get my new motor sorted out and road-tested prior to the 20th. As of yesterday, the motor is in and running but has an untested side shifter tranny to be hooked up today and a weird ignition wire issue with no juice to the fuel pump???.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

How'd did you get it started with a non-working fuel pump? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) You have 3 weeks; I'm sure you'll have things sorted out by that point. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

With a winch and a AAA Premier card..... When I returned home, it fired right up / I took it for a drive to confirm usefulnesss for the Temecula run (now past) and it died for good on PCH / no sound from the almost brand new pump / so today, I will chase it down to either a wiring issue or a pump issue........ Sorry we missed the event.

No problem Forrest. We had a great time and plan on doing this again this again this Autumn when it cools down a bit. Things don't always turn out as you've planned them. Sometimes they turn out better and this was one of those events. Just as with planning the Dawn Patrol runs, there were 80% talkers and 20% walkers. Sure enough the last minute excuses came via pm's. As it turned out, this was a good thing as I was able to spend time with friends and "enjoy" the event rather than scurrying around or as you said, "Herding cats!". I'll be sure to pm you for the next Wine Tour, Forrest.
The feast went off without a hitch. Everything was ready on time, for once. I'm pretty sure everyone had enough to eat as lunch went on for almost 2 hours. I'm still stuffed this morning. Another benefit of having a small party is that I was able to break out some of my favorite Cabernet's for friends!
It's usually much cooler in the vineyards and yesterday was no exception. Very nice day spent with some great folks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Special thanks to Eddy & Munda and Ravi & Michelle for braving the traffic snarls to get here. Here's a few pics of the wineries.

Funny thing. That is a 3D monitor on the wall. We all thought we had a little too much to drink until we were handed the 3D glasses. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif)

Apparently, this isn't the first time Larmo has Photo Bombed an event. This time it was at the expense of the Italian's. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)

And is there really such a thing as too much wine sampling? Zoom in. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) BTW, this is the second winery and it is Doggie Friendly. Cool.
