Is that the 914/8 at the Porsche Museum?

Sure looks like it. I saw it in person 3 years ago.
Took pics of it too .

I'll be in Munich (for Oktoberfest) in a little over a month. I should make the drive out to Stuttgart so I can see the 914/8 in person.

I tend to agree that these 5 would have to be in just about anybody's list. On a different topic - if anyone is interested in writing a short article on the history of any of these 5 cars, PM me. We'd love to have it for an upcoming issue of the magazine.

How come we don't see any tribute cars to this one? Lots of GT tributes, but none of this one.

Thanks. Can you send me anymore info on these cars? The first one is the other 914-8, correct?

Dare I suggest - could it be the silver? Not as striking as the bright colors on many tribute cars. I considered doing our silver 914 as a tribute car to this one. But, haven't fully decided. I am sorta partial to some other ideas I have for it.

Got a spare flat-8 to poke into it? This car could not have greater provenance.

Even w/o the flat 8, it's a good looking car:
Ovoid front cooler opening
Gas fuller door in hood
Non-removable top with sunroof
Body colored lower panels

Does anyone know if it has R-offset wheels in the back, I would think they would want that extra width to put the power down.

Doesn't everyone have a $90K motor laying around to shove into a 914?

The #2 car from the set of three marathon cars was "the one" that did it for me as a kid...I remember getting hold of a Panorama with that on the cover and instantly fell in love

Most of those seem like the obvious choices, I'd still put Marty's car up there too, has been a thing of legend for a long time (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Nice suggestions! It should be a Top 14, off course. May I suggest this one:

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i211.photobucket.com-18384-1438810928.1.jpg)

In Dutch National Police livery. This car did his duty on our national highways - I still remember the car passing us on the highway! Fellow (Dutch) forum member Arno Wienands can tell you more about the history and whereabouts of the car.

How come we don't see any tribute cars to this one? Lots of GT tributes, but none of this one.

I had planned to do one without the flat 8 but ended up with a flared shell. I am still looking for a car to do the tribute. Cosmetic only, no way am I in a position to do the engine.

I have a spotless (almost) silver '72 if you want to do a tribute car. :-) I have a 2 car garage, and 3 cars. One will have to go eventually.

You are right - it should be 14. But, we will need a lot more nominations.

I don't know if this teener is worthy, but that is Playmate of the Year Cyndi Wood (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
