OK - so really you want to shop for a six or six conversion if that is where you head is. I totally understand.
The problem with the aftermarket headers and/or mufflers, is even the best of them tend to be loud(er) than stock. I am not sure that is what you are seeking if you are an older guy like me. I want to hear the air cooled motor without upsetting all of my neighbors. Really, I wish I could do the electronic valves on my six like my C4S has. Quiet when you want and louder when you want. |

Rust sucks and unless I knew the person that "claims" to have fixed the rust I would be skeptical of all repairs unless pictures exist or you or someone else can inspect the car.
Why are you bailing on the 911 build? What are the chances of you getting a 914 project car and it has the same fate? If I was a betting man, I'd say that the 930 turbo motor with transmission will sell easily and the 911 shell is going to be sitting around for a long, long time. Too many negative issues with it to be highly desirable in my opinion. |

1st of all, any 914 is not rust free, it either has rust or will have rust given its storage situation.
Buy the best body you can get, it may or may not be one of these. The motor is only a matter of money. Depending on the build documentation you may find you want to do your own. Also, you will have roadblocks. Of you take in a project take the amount you think you are going to spend and tripple it.you will probably be into it for that. With the way these cars have been appreciating you will not make a ton of money right now, but you can come out ahead, if you don't coin your time. So buy a project if you enjoy the journey. If not you may be best suited to spend more and get exactly what you want. 5 years ago these"project" cars were worth half as much. It's now viable to do a restoration, but start with the best body you can get. Just my .02 |

You'll quickly buy another one regardless of which one you buy. In between buying parts and fixing them you'll be looking for a third(if you just cleaned up that third car garage/or your gf will park it for you/ or a storage shed). So buy both! Just get a good deal and think about how much you can part them out for so you have nothing to lose!! If anything think of it as cheap entertainment. You can quickly blow this amount of money going out/casino/vacation. So have some fun! Goodluck!!!!!
