I have been asked about the date for the 2016 Route 66 Classic. Please help pick a weekend.
The event is usually the end of March. Some of the peeps from northern latitudes and higher elevations requested a later date. (something about snow on the roads and stuff) The format for this year will be to start in Flagstaff on Friday. Saturday will be a drive to Prescott, with a lunch stop in Jerome. Banquet and Awards Saturday night. Sunday - go home. P.S. - If anyone wants to volunteer to help with planning, please send me a PM. Attached image(s) |

Not your fault some of us have that white stuff. We made out of the north last year for the first time to attend the PS route 66 event. Battled a wet sloppy snow storm to get there. We will do it again if there is a snowballs chance in hell we can make it without hitting a guardrail. The coming event we will likely be in the Alien with no heat. Anyone up for the Grand Canyon, as well? A side trip to the Grand Canyon is an excellent idea. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) A few years ago we were starting in Williams and took the train to the Canyon. A drive up on Friday would be fun this year. MapQuest says it is 180 miles and 3 1/2 hours if we do it as a loop. (180 to 64 to 89) That route will also have us come back into Flagstaff on Route 66. |
