I wonder what he paid for all these cars. Be interesting (to me anyway) to know just how much they went up in value. Factor in storing them, maint, insurance over the years. I'm sure he didn't lose any money.

His CGT prototype did not sell apparently. And from what I heard, since it is a prototype it can't even be driven on public roads. That narrows the available buyers a little!!

I read that the 917K-30 cost him $4.4mm a few years ago. Think he purchased from the late Matt Drendel collection. It has no race history and built from spares. Don't get me wrong I'd hit it, but looks like he probably wanted out due to no pedigree on the car...took a $ loss too. |

Don't get me wrong I'd hit it, but looks like he probably wanted out due to no pedigree on the car...took a $ loss too. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) and unless it sold AFTER the auction, it did not sell. It left the stage with the auctioneer stating " I will not let this car go for nothing" and was rolled off unsold at the time. He paid 4m + fees when he got it. which yes, ended up around 4.4m I'm perplexed about the beetle. It was an all original car with rusty hinges, dents and dings etc. Makes no sense why it went so high unless there is some history I didn't read, Makes me happy I held onto my Oval window (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) . The Jagdenwagen was the hit of the show, and went for well over it's estimate. |
