I've thought of putting a Susuki Hayabusa engine in a 914. There like 200hp stock and people get them up to 250hp. Is there a way to adapt it to our 914's? The lotus seven people have been successfull with putting them in there cars.

the 914 weighs too much.....the 'busa does not have enough torque in the rpm range needed......
you answered your own question which didn't have to be asked if you saw the Isetta and if you know the Lotus guys are doing it (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/screwy.gif) |

I would consider buying that thing in a heartbeat if there was an economical way to get her here to the great flatlands. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/w00t.gif) |

i know friends who have ricer cars and love V-tec....WTF? it only actuvates at 5000RPM ONLY TO SAVE GAS...............lame (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif) except for the integra Type R, which uses a revamped V-tec tuned for performance. EDIT: me and a buddy were in his 2002 Civic doing 120mph down a small intercity expressway....he was gritting his teeth at the thought and suspense of theat rpm needle reaching 5000 and vtec kicking in...and when it did....it was so lame. He was a idiot. He rolled that car two months later. |

Well...that's the V-TEC and Honda in general....buzzy, high strung, top end HP....that was the bitch about the small bore 911 motors back in the day....except they only got it on around 5K rpms.....the honda sporty cars wait until.6500 and PULL up to what? 9K?

Hmm
I have owned 3 250 Isettas ,2 300 Isetta an d2 600 Isettas. One of the 600's I removed the 19hp 600 amd replaced it with a BMW 700Cs engine. The engines are the same exept for the Twin Carbs and High compression pistons. It was just plain Scary way to much power for the 600's tiny Brakes. Had a lot of fun with Isettas along with all the other Micro Cars I have owned over the years. Here are just a few: Bmw 700 cs had three of them. My 1964 is now in the BMW Factory Museum. Trabant 600 my daily driver for a couple of years. Twin RD-350 Chambers Nothing like winding out a Two Stroke. That car can be seen in the movie " Driving Me Crazy" With Thomas Gottchal and Billy Dee Williams. Subaru 360 had a couple of these in highSchool. These got me Hooked on Two Strokes. Nsu prinz 1000 TT I got this from an Old Guy who brought it back from West Germany while he was in the Airforce. Just plain Bitchen car If you ever see one check out the oilcooler. 2-CV mine had a Ami-8 Engine which is the Hot rodders way of Hopping them up. Sold it to a Guy in Santa Barbra named John Hancock Two Tone Grey . Have you seen it around town Mike Z. Moris Minors had a bunch of these. my buddies and I were into taking the 948cc out and putting 124 Fiat engines in. The Sleeper of all time. Had to swap in midget brakes to get them to stop. So many Saab two strokes my buddys called me Sven Svenska. I was a member of the Saab club way back in the Richard Grossman days. The one I always wanted was a Messer KR 500. Still looking for one but way out of my price range now. |

My folks sold Imps.
They were the LA Dealers for Roots Group Products. The Alpine on Get Smart was sold by them To the Studio. Growing up in the 60's and having ridden in just about every sports car sold at the the time. We always had some uniqure cars at our house eithers as a car my dad was importing or as a trade in. Meet a lot of the Movie and TV Stars who would come in to look at Morgans or some of the other cars they were selling. Both my folks race Morgans in SCCA.The parties at our house was like a who's who of racers just about anyone of the famous racers from the sixty's I have meet. My love of cars came from being around so many of what are now called classics. |

I was trying to get him to put a six in the Imp but we concluded it would be impossible to keep the front end on the floor (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif)
