1979: I was 17 and was in the back of a raised Ford 4x4 when it rolled...lost my senses of taste and smell....ended up with 38K for my trouble...wish I had it now.

In 1983-ish (white) 240Z...I was T-Boned by a (white) 280ZX....bent my frame

June 2008: 1975 914...6:00A.M....going through a light a guy in a Chevy 4x4 ran the light...I scooped up his tail end and his bumper ran diagonally across the hood and almost into the windshield on the driver side....he bounced...and then took off...I limped home...car is almost back to it's former "fair" condition.

Anyone want to go for a ride with me????

I had been driving my '37 Plymouth for about a year before I backed into a guy wire that supported a telephone pole. My car had a split rear window and the wire lined up perfectly with the split between the windows, never saw it coming. It sliced through my tail pan like a hot knife through butter, I stayed up all that night with an english wheel and a welder and she was better than new by morning.

1991 I was 16, first car was a 87 Tempo "sport" LOL lady applying makup in a blazer rear ended me, can't believe they didn't total it.

1991 still 16, got my first new Demo (Dad is/was a dealer) Escort GT, slid off our wooded twisty driveway on wet leaves, down into the ravine, no damage but big tow bill.

1991 yes still 16, same Escort GT horsing around in the snow high school parking lot, lost it and hit the curb hard enough to go airborn and crack the wheel, bend the tie rod and lower suspension. Drove it 18miles with it so far out of toe it ate up half my tire tread, and paid a friend in service to fix it before Dad found out.

1993 Ranger 4x4 decided to see how much "air" I could get over a rather notorious set of train tracks. Ended up bottoming and blowing the front shocks upon landing as well as breaking both inner fenders. Another secret trip to my friend in parts and service.

1997 new jeep wrangler demo, took a dare and decided to cross the river behind the house, Started floating downstream, opened doors allowed water in to sink it to get tires on riverbed, and drove out with water all around my feet. Carpet never looked right after that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) luckily no other damage.

That's it for me so far, knock on wood.

Hey I crashed a 850 coupe too! I was only 17 and went around the corner too fast. locked up the breaks and flipped it three times. It was my dad's car and it was about three months old. Not a fast car, but I loved the sound of that engine.
I learned not to lock the breaks in a skid.

-19yo Crashed 82 Honda Magna into side of Winnebago when it made a U-turn in front of me. 1st day of my 1st bike (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

- 96, riding from Emoryville near Oakland to SFO on my new 94 Honda Magna in a torrential down poor with winds gusting to 60mph I exited the fwy at SFO and rounded a corner to end up in a 6"deep flooded street. Surfing USA. Dinged the tank, thats all.

- Junior year of college, rear ended my 87 BMW K75S at the top of a hill while stopped at a stop light. "Totaled" due to parts cost. Easily restored and was able to drive it home from the accident. That bike was a tank.

- Senior year on college, same K75S, side swiped as I was exiting a freeway. Caught about 10' of air, nothing broken on me, gas tank had broken fuel nipple so had to have it towed. Totaled again due to parts cast. Easily restored and repainted and re streeted. Told you it was a tank! It is still running.

- One week after the aforementioned bike accident, dumbass pulls out in front of me in my beloved 91 Jeep Cherokee and totaled it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I had about 30Kmi on the rebuilt engine. That jeep was a great car.

- Last April, day after the Hershey swapmeet, 914 met telephone pole after leaving road. Totaled (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) This was the only one that I take the blame for, though.

No crashes for me over 500,000 miles, track work etc. But my dad totaled a beautiful Super 90 356 back in the 70's that I would have had handed down to me rather than a crappy Orange 914. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

In 1979 I wrecked a 67 mustang convertable on Mullhulen Dr and bought a 914-6
In 1984 the 914-6 was totaled by a drunk driver...not me!
In 1986 my yellow 73 914 burned to the ground
In 1991 I rolled a brand new Ford Explorer off a cliff in the snow.

I know there are more small fender benders but these are the ones that totaled the cars!

I've never totaled anything.

Though I have killed several rabbits, birds, and a deer and very damn nearly a cow with my cars over the years.

Ok, some of you know the 91 west, just past Corona? Green River I think. In the morning it runs along pretty good until you get close to there. I was on my way to work in my 1985 F-250 4X4 diesel. 38" Dick Cepek's and a 10" lift. So I could see very well. A chick in a Benz cuts in front of me and starts digging in her purse.

I can see over her that the brake lights were starting to come on and the traffic was starting to gather. So I let off the throttle and tapped the brakes to let the people behind me know what was up. Just then the chick in the Benz looked up from her purse, saw the brake lights (100 yards ahead) and I guess she thought she was closer, she slammed on the binders.

Now if you have never driven a Benz they have brakes like our cars and stop on a dime. Where as an F-250 with materials and tools in the back does not.

I wish I had a picture of this for you but I wasn't thinking to clear afterwords so I'll do my best to paint a picture...Ever seen Bigfoot crush a car? My rear tires where on her trunk, fronts on her hood. It might have been fun if the car was a little lower and unoccupied. She was fine but I was beat up a bit, wrong safety harness for that.

Built a nice hotrod 88 fiero back in high school. 2 years to build and 6 months to total. I was upstate racing thru some twisty back country mountain roads and flew off the road and down maybe 50 feet and smashed thru 3 trees along the way. Car was hung up on trees and didn't even end up on the ground when stopped.

Then I kinda smashed the front of my 914 which is no secret. I was doing a little drifitn on the entrance to the highway and got a little out of control and hit a light pole.

I backed my International Scout into a trash dumpster once, didn't care, it was that kind of a truck. That's about it.

Oh boy... I will try to put this in order:

Yamaha RD400-lost to a slurry and graveled corner in Whiittier on Turnbull

VW Scirrocco- lost in a ditch on Turnbull to a positive to negative camber turn going down hill, instant oversteer.

Chevy C10- 5 MPH rollover, while rock climbing

(All of these were before I was 18)

Honda XR400- San Filipe, huge rock under sand, I was out cold for 30 minutes on that one.

Volvo Turbo- Lost when an irrigation truck blew a light and t-boned me, Luckily I was in a Volvo cage, only thing other than soreness was a broken nose from a 1"PVC pipe coming through the window.

F150 Lightning Prerunner- More times than I can remember, but that is why it was all 'glass and a stock 1 day paint color

Other than that...I'm good <!-- emo&:lol: -->(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)<!-- endemo -->

I lived off of Turnbull for years, but I never left a car there. Came close a couple of times on my motorcycle though.

I got the full steel doors on my Jeep... nice to have a roll-down window in the winter.

But the doors come off in the spring and stay off all summer. I use the wet-dry vac to get the rain out.
