Spend the last day and a half attempting to assemble the passenger door with all new rubber. When I bought the car this aspect was in pieces so I didn't take it apart. Can't seem to find the correct procedure to enable all components to be correctly assembled. It's the aluminum channel at the top of the door, the one with a fuzzy inside and the window scraper on the top that is giving me an issue. Seems like I need to install the piece AFTER the glass is installed. When I attempt that there is no way I can get the glass down past to put in the 3 screws that hold it in place. Tried to assemble the channel first but a welded nut on the steel structure glued to the window bottom is too wide to fit the remaining opening. Being a Newbie I attempted to see if there was a thread that deals with this but found none. Please Help !! Off to have a beer now before I do something I'll regret. Car is 74 if that matters.

Just did the channel and squeegees on both sides of my car.
The glass needs to come out. I removed the triangle first and the side window came out easily. I think there's a way to just move the triangle window and leave it in the car...but I wanted to clean things as long as I was in there. This is also a good time to replace the window rollers. Check the classic forum for removing the glass for more detail and pics. Once you set the squeegee track with the 3 screws and put the glass back in, the easiest way to get the rubber part in the track is to push it in from the top. Don't try to slide it from the side. Once you get it started, you'll see that applying downward pressure pops the rubber into the channel. Then just trim the end to fit. |
