911R parts@ cardomain is one supplier for the 911 stuff.
I got mine from one of Chris Streits buddies on PP, I also think TRE makes them |

These are being made by the guy who started this thread, Mike_S. He's been making 911R lights for a while and has a following due to the high quality of his products.
The pictures I posted are prototypes of the 914R lights from which he will make master molds. I think I'm getting the first set and I will post pics when I get them. |

Thanks,
Glad you guys like the lights. Here's the latest info: The lights you see are the masters. I will be making molds and having parts made soon. The problems right now are that I just moved to Michigan and I'm looking for a fiberglass shop to layup my parts. I don't want to do them in my garage. Now that I have a lot of parts it's not feasible for me to make the parts anymore, otherwise I won't be able to keep creating new parts. As far as the 911R parts, the ones from Chris Streit, Motomotions, Pelican, TRE, and a few others are my bases. There's one guy that makes LED lights for my bases that are brighter than the Hellas and fit very well. The Hella lights come in Red, Amber/Red, and Amber/Clear. The clear lights are used for reverse. |

Yes, put me on the "I want a set" list too. Take your time, we won't rush you(too much). Post a price list(we will pay whatever anyway, thats why we have 914s). They do look nice. Maybe a three light option?? Maybe a black out option for those sinister people?? I am going to print out a copy of the photo to put on the bulliten board in my shop to help my feeble memory. Oh yes did I say they do look nice. Who has to be correct, I am building this pirate ship for me, not Ferry Porsche. MSG L

Allright guys, after years in the making the 914R lights are being made and getting shipped out. The first sets are going to be shipped to route 30 classics and camp 914. They were both generous enough to send me parts to copy and mutilate for the process. I would prefer all inquires be sent to them as they are going to be my main dealers for these things. They will be arriving at the dealers in the next week or 2. I only have 1 mold right now so production will be limited.
Pricing will be up to the dealers, but they should be around the price of the 911 ones, which is approx $300, because it's the same parts different shape. Thank you for your patience! |

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) Mike is there any way to purchase the lights ONLY? I will be making steel housing to weld and blend into the body. I would also like to know if there is a red/clear or possibly all clear lens. I'm planning on using a 3 light setup and want red, amber and white in some combination. Thanks. |

Hey guys I got a set of Mike's 911R rears from MotoMotions. Let me first say that the quality is FIRST RATE!!! Mike knows what he's doing and takes pride in his work.
As far as the lights, I strongly recommend you go with LEDs. I found a set at my local truck stop that were 6 bucks apiece and look VERY much like the original Hellas. But they are way brighter and draw way less current than the original incandescents. They are made by Maxxima. Here's one linky. http://www.buytruckstuff.com/s_product_gp....?selcategory=34 If you search under "LED marker lights" (that's what the truckers know them as) you'll find them all over the web... They are sealed, never wear out and come with really nifty waterproof connectors. However, they are only one set of elements (thus only on/off), so if you want to do what I did and have one set be bright for brakes and dimmer for running then you need to cobble up a voltage regulator and wire it to hook up to the existing wiring. I would be happy to help you do so or maybe I can make up some kits if anyone is interested. I'm an EE so this might be easier for me to do than someone not so inclined....Email me at areed@hachultra.com if you want more info. Adam912 Out '66 912, 475K miles, 2.2L T4 power WOO HOO!!!! |

that's too funny...on my last trip to Southern California, we did our usual "pit" stop at a Pilot gas station/truck stop, upon leaving the rest room, I saw all the big rig LED lights and ended up buying a set to test out....they also sold a square relay for LED lights, it only had 2 terminals instead of the normal relays 4(?) terminals |

Any one toyed with the idea of LED's? I was thinking of making a complete rear (one side to the other with "914-6" spelled out where my reflector is now.......
