My fuel pump just started making a constant loud humming noise that can be heard in the cabin signaling it wants to be replaced. (or can these be rebuilt?)

If I need to buy new, which one should I get for my '75 2.0 w/stock FI?

There are three available on Pelican's site:
one for $182:

one for $220:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/0439...&SVSVSI=980

one for <gulp> $427

FYI Bosch 69133 fuel pump on Amazon: I just checked, it's $60 + shipping. I paid $72 a couple of months ago. I'm think that is your pump.

That is a big difference in prices. Is the difference between the Original Porsche pumps performance really that much different than the Bosch pump for almost half the money?

Or is this more of a concourse thing?

Loud humming is an indication that the filter is clogged.

Wouldn't I then see an issues related to lack of fuel delivery (stalling, bucking, etc) ?

Probably time for a filter change anyway, though.

Ok, so don't buy the one from Herko Automotive. Although advertised as a BOSCH, it's a no-name, who knows if it will work at all or for how long, pump. Thankfully they are taking it back and apologized for sending me something that wasn't as advertised.

FYI the one I got in April of this year was a Bosch. The one pictured on Amazon now has tabs instead of screws for the electrical leads which is different than mine (mine has screws with nuts and washers). I have no idea what is going on. Sorry it didn't pan out.

I also received the wrong fuel pump. The pump I received was an E2182 from Airtex. I am sending it back to Amazon, well actually Herko Automotive. So my question now is what is the best pump for a '73 1.7 with FI? I am moving to front trunk.
Thanks

FYI, I ordered this pump from Amazon, and even though the picture shows spade-type connectors, it in fact has screw terminals. Not a big deal, just letting you know. (I think they are all screw terminals now.)

Fuel filters are problematic as there are 2 different port sizes. Not a standard off the shelf filter. May be able to source at your local VW shop. Have a few left id you need one. Currently it's listed with the hoses, but thinking I will break it out as a stand alone, except my supplier is hit and miss.

Airtex E8445 or equivalent. Pressure and volume is the same as the Bosch pump, and it is normally in stock at any FLAPS.

It's about $100.00.

Is the quality on par with the Bosch though?

The Walbro 255LPH GSL-392 inline pump is a good unit, about $90 on evilbay.
