By the way - this stuff is great for installing the bushings.

So, today I installed the control arms with 18mm torsion bars, ball joints, and the sway bar links. It feels great to actually put parts onto the car and get them torqued down.

Tomorrow I’ll install the master cylinder and front brake lines - or maybe that will happen tonight. Next I’ll get to the fuel tank and pump.

Everything looks very nice. It is so rewarding installing nice clean, plated, powder coated parts. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Started on the front brake parts, but didn’t get very far. The original reservoir is in, and it has the original blue tubes; the reservoir is a little yellow but otherwise perfect.

I stopped due to the lines that run down to the master cylinder - the replacements I purchased could likely be made to fit, but I don’t like the black color since the original is clear,

Now I need to find a cad/zinc plater for the old metal tube parts and several other pieces I’ll need later. This has proved difficult.

I did order some clear tubing that I’ll form like the original - should arrive tomorrow.

Stopped for now on brakes, so I moved to the rear trailing arms.

They need a little more work before paint. Some time ago I set them up for 911 e-brakes, and I have adapters for Boxster calipers.

Now, I’m almost done making new mounts for rotor shields. I know, it is likely fine without them, but - it makes me feel good. These are 968 shields; they will need minimal trimming only on the leading edges.

If you are willing to send the parts Quality Metal finishing in Paterson NJ
is a good choice.
They do hardware and parts for many shops and restorers throughout this area.
For best results clean and wire brush first.

Thanks for the recommendation. Nothing is close to me, so I’ll be driving hours or shipping the parts.

I’m gathering everything I can find to send out for plating, and I discovered these two parts. I have no idea what they are.

Can anyone identify them?

Thanks - my car came to me in boxes, so I’m not too surprised it came with “extra” parts.

I found a place in Greensboro, NC that will do small batch plating for me. It’s somewhat of a long drive, but I can talk with them face to face.

So, I’ve gathered everything remaining that needs plating.

But, while doing this, I found two parts I can’t identify - does anyone know what this is?

Not a 914 part. At least not one that I've ever seen.

Thanks again - I tried a Google picture search also, but didn’t get a match.
