So, with the oil cooler connection holes relocated, and the screw holes modified, the oil cooler is in place for the first trial.

Now to make a mount under the oil cooler.

Looking good. If you don't mind me asking but why add a mount under the cooler?
I plan on mounting my cooler on the upper mounts only.
I purchased the same cooler setup as you so I'm currently working through this as well.
My cooler mounts nicely to the upper steel shroud that I have. Nothing hits anywhere when it's all in place. I want to add a few fans so dealing with that now.
I wish PMB would do a step by step install vid so we all know the best way to tackle this.
I just don't want a premature failure due to an improper installation.

The cooler is very light, so mounting only on the top is likely sufficient.

I added the bottom mount for two reasons; first, I’m modifying the shroud to alllow easy removal while the oil cooler stays in place, and secondly, the original had a bottom mount in the center.

More parts showed up at my door today.

I’ll use this mesh for the oil cooler inlet and outlet. It’s a little smaller than the engine cover mesh, but the same style in stainless steel. The openings are roughly 6mm x 3.3mm

I like that screen way better then what is currently installed on my screen cover.
Could you share link or where you purchased it from?
I got this from SMC and the screen is pretty flimsy.

It’s on the Amazon link below - note the actual opening size is a little smaller than the advertised 8mm x 4mm.

So here’s my grill plan. After about 20 years, my Weber grill rusted away - except for the stainless top hatch door that I kept because it was good metal. My old grill will now become my 914 oil cooler intake grill. It is the perfect length, so if anyone has one of these Weber grills, now you know a better way to use it.

BTW - this one wasn’t my grill - mine collapsed from rust.

The sides of the door need to be shorted, and I’ll round off the corners next.

I can make the top and both sides from this piece, but the bottom section will likely need to be made separately and welded on later. I’m going to cut out the frame shape next and attempt to shape it to the car - hopefully this works.

A little more progress on the grill. The contour of the top and one side is done. I’ll weld the gaps on the side before moving on.

Forming the contour is complete - just need to trim the sides to the correct width and weld the gaps before moving on to the bottom section.

Nice reuse of metal! You better get another one though, I heard 914s don’t run well with a single Weber (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

While waiting on some hardware, I worked on the oil cooler exit grill. It looks bigger than it actually is; one inch tall on the front section.

I’ll add mesh on the top side.

Still waiting on fasteners and a new rivnut mandrel - the snow may delay progress.

I’ve been thinking about fender liners. I saw the units on Patrick and thought “I can do that - how hard can it be?” We’ll see.

Here is the beginning of the first trial pattern on the driver front fender:

The first rough template is ready to transfer to stiffer cardboard . It will need tweaking before cutting the plastic. I’ll probably need to put some heat on the rolled out plastic to remove the roll memory.
