Maybe he received it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) His new device does not work. He's VERY aware, not JUST aware, of the situation. Call the number listed in member Vendors to order a exhaust.

For anyone looking for a Triad, you can install a magnaflow muffler (2in/2out) and they sound similar. Magnaflow actually is a bit raspier. I think the Triad fits the look of the 914 a bit more though. |

Saw the Triad West stuff for the first time in this thread.
From the first picture I thought "Wow, I know where I would put the O2 sensor bung!" And then someone did it! I want one of these for a 1.8 set up. I don't want to bug Dave until I'm ready to purchase. What should one expect to pay for one? I know Dave is the best source for this number, I just wanted to get a "range" to compare it to other systems. It looks like two glass packs with a hollow exhaust plenum feeding them. Am I correct in my assumptions? |

Dave died. Only way to source one, that I’m aware of, is used. The ones for 1.7/1.8 style HEs are rare.

Thanks for the info, sad ninja (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ninja.gif)
I sort of thought "I'm going to have to build that." The first chamber I want to use as a PWTB (pressure wave terminator box). For a 2L it should be 3-4 liters For a 2.25 L it should be 4-5 liters. The muffler past that is inconsequential except for back pressure and tone. I'd lean Borla right now or if still available a real sonic turbo. This is David Vizard stuff... The exit from the PWTB is an excellent place for the WB IMO. It's too bad so many of the big dogs have retired or passed. I am 10 years too late getting back into 914s... |

Dave had a nice assortment jigs. I can’t imagine welding one up that fits correctly without one.

Dave had a nice assortment jigs. I can’t imagine welding one up that fits correctly without one. I had one of Dave's systems on my 1.7. It was great. RIP Dave. I still have a Triad sticker for someone into nostaligia. Only thing I'd want to have is to make sure it finds a home with someone that has one of his exhausts. PM me your address and a pic....and I'll send it. |

Dave had a nice assortment jigs. I can’t imagine welding one up that fits correctly without one. I can imagine... Don't burst my bubble, please. I'm just building one, not trying to go into production. Jigs are a requirement right after the first one is custom built. I'd V-band everything most likely. Easier and allows some adjustments. I've seen the flanges available if I wanted to stay normal at that point. I'd also most likely go with a single muffler and single exit. I am interested in a 1.8l set up if anyone has a used one... I'll most likely end up with a Tangerine complete exhaust when I go big. I've already got a pretty nice set of 1.8 SSIs and a Bursch set up. For the little motor (2055) I'm going to try and use what I have currently. This design looked better than anything else I have come across for SSI exhaust. |

IMO the only use for a 75/76 exhaust is for concours or if you're planning on sticking a turbo on it (bad idea without intensive, maybe impossible, engine mods or stupid low boost).
Even blown, I'd want to get rid of the thermal reactors... Concours ONLY in my book for the 75-76 trash. At that point the SS unit (which IS beautiful!) would cost points, maybe bust it completely. I'm NOT a concours type of guy. Not even close... |

I agree, unless you are going to keep the car concours, ditch the 75-76 exhaust and replace it with a set of SS heat exchangers.
