Dan!
Thats funny, I didn't even know it was going on and I went last year with the wife / Dogs just to get away for the weekend. It was a rainy sunday morning right? YOU must have had the nice orange Flared 914 that had some trouble starting? I had the Orange 912, I think ours were the 2 oldest cars there- besides the 1 real 50's speedster. It was quite a surprise to wake up and see all the Porsche driving around! Its a cool weekend, and theres LOTS of fun stuff to do at Whistler, hiking, biking, eating, drinking...you run the whole gambit there. I wanna go again. Bob O p.s. Was thinking, its kinda weird that many 912 (and some 911) owners are taking the "porsche" engines out and putting 914 engines in...and the 914 guys (like you) are taking the 914 engines out and putting the "porsche" engines in. A /6 is easy in a 912, but the T4 makes it more fun to drive....sick circle. |

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif) The alternator went out on us. We drove from Whistler to North Seattle on the battery! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif) I pulled into the driveway and shut the 914 off, waited a second and just for fun tried to restart it. It turned over slow, but still fired off! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) |

Steve, I really hope things go okay for your little one. I have to read the thread to catch up on that. The event is the weekend of August 27th-29th with I think even things planned through that Monday. Michelle and I drive up in a BIG Porsche caravan that Friday the 27th. Make sure to check the web site out I posted. Space usually goes fast. We usually register in April/May or basically as soon as they let us. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

E-Mail I got this morning:
Forwarded message from Bob Benson, Whistler Weekend Chairman. Please direct your response to Bob at the email address shown below. Hi Everyone, I would like to update you on the latest Whistler news. Congratulations to those of you who have already signed up for the event, you have set a record for registrations for this time of year. Over two thirds of the block of hotel rooms set aside for us at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler has been taken. If you want to take advantage of these inexpensive room rates, you should register as quickly as possible. If you have a favourite car number from a previous year or just a lucky number for your car, our Registrar has asked me to ask you to get your registration in ASAP to secure it. As for on-line registration, I have some bad news. Global Payments screwed us around for 4 months before putting unrealistic demands on us and we have declined their services, so registration will be by fax or mail only. The registration form can be downloaded from our website, www.whistlerweekend.org and you can securely fax it in or mail it in with your payment to our registrar. Upon receipt of the registration form and payment, Marg will contact you and provide you with the code you need to book your room at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. For those of you trailering your cars up to the event, there is room for your truck and trailer to park at the Chateau on their outside lot. You should advise them when you book your room. We are also providing security for the parking lots overnight Friday and Saturday to complement the Chateau security already in place. This is in response to your feedback from previous years. For those of you competing for the Whistler Colby Cup, we have settled on what the third event will be, and it will be Porsche slot car racing. This exciting event will be taking place during the Friday Welcome Reception and you will be competing 3 at a time driving a scaled version of the old Vancouver Molson Indy track and racing scale model Porsche 917’s on pumped up voltage (speed) and computer timed. There is a gentleman here in Vancouver who designs and builds these race courses that imitate the famous race tracks around the world. We chose this one because it is portable and it's design is part of Vancouver’s racing history. It will also be great fun watching the competition in the environment of the Welcome Reception. We had the opportunity to try it out at the Mission Historic Races a couple of weeks ago. I am here to tell you that Rick Woolley is just as fast with these as he is with his Boxster S. The Porsche International Whistler Weekend 2005 is shaping up to be one of the best ever and we want you to be part of it. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me at bobb911sc@shaw.ca and I will be happy to help you. Best regards, Bob Benson Chairman Porsche International Whistler Weekend 2005 |

So is the 914 crowd going to register or just hang out and enjoy the show? I would be willing to make the drive but do not want to do the concours or autocross. Eddy

Here is the link:
http://www.pnwr.org/calendar/default.asp?d...?date=8/26/2005 They still have to fill out some information. Exit 206 is about 4 miles north of my exit. So just 4-5 minutes north of Marysville. Last 3 years, they have left the rest stop off of 206 around 10AM. A BUNCH of PNWR members meet there. The main caravan starts way down south early in the morning. Our group joins up at 206. Last year I think we had just over 40 cars. Most take Porsche's of course, but you would be surprised to see how many club members take the family along in some sort of SUV followed by Dad in his Porsche. Pretty cool really. Forwarded message from Bob Benson, Whistler Weekend Chairman.
Please direct your response to Bob at the email address shown below. From: "Bob Benson" Date: 2005 July 08 05:24:22 PM PDT Subject: Whistler 2005 Update Hi Everyone, We are now approaching 100 registrations for Whistler this year and we are close to running out of our block of rooms at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. In agreement with the Fairmont Chateau, we were to return any unused rooms to their central registration bank by July 26. But because it looks like we will exceed our allocation of rooms, the Fairmont Chateau has agreed to extend our very special pricing for rooms AS LONG AS THEY ARE AVAILABLE, for the numbers above 100. You need to know that the Chateau was sold out last year for the month of August so if you wish to take advantage of this room special, you should register ASAP. Don’t be disappointed if you want to enjoy the luxury the Chateau and it’s 3 pools, air conditioning, bars, lounges, spa’s, room service and unparalleled customer service. These rates also apply to extended stays before and after the weekend. Along the same lines, there will be Goody Bags for the first 140 cars registered and these are loaded with excellent stuff. We are also going to allow preferred car numbers up until July 15th so if you have a favourite or past Whistler number in mind, register now. We are still holding some numbers for some Whistler regulars but we need you to contact Marg ASAP. I hope you are enjoying your summer and we look forward to seeing you in August. Best regards, Bob Benson Chair, International Porsche Whistler Weekend 2005 |
