I have the chance to buy a 2,2T motor.

Is this a good motor for a 914 6 conversion? Its not cheap so I want to be sure that its not wasted money. There is also a 2,4 available and its a bit cheaper. Advice required

Running a 2.2 and disagree about the torque. 2.0Ts make really nice torque, as do 2.2 and, especially, 2.4Ts. Of course a 3.0 or 3.2 makes more torque, but those can be built into horsepower-oriented engines, too.

My 2.2 has a E pistons with a little compression, a bit of head work, and Solex cams. It really sings through the rev range on the way up to 7200 rpm, but it makes more midrange torque than I expected. A lot more. Very tractable, but does lose steam up top—so it isn't as thrilling at the top as an S.

We lost 20 hp with the factory airbox back on (dropping from 169 rwhp to 149), but gained 12 back when we pulled the snorkel and air cleaner off—so need to figure that out as I'd like to avoid rain hats.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) that's why Porsche did the T motor,a touring drivers car, short stroke motors seems to be popular builds these days,Henry @ Supertechs been doing a few.
From a conversion point of view I would suggest the Op goes for the 2.4 easy fit to the 914 g/box and no cooler install.
Op has gone into hiding ? hopefully is reading up and makes a wise call (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif)
