I have installed 3 of the Chinese and, so far, 1 of the Securit and have been happy with the finished install. I have installed a lot of 914 windshields and this is the method I use: Please add comments if you use other methods. I prefer not to use a glass service as most will use a caulk gun and sometimes glue the trim in place causing ruined trim next time it needs to be removed. I use a 3M 08610 1/4" round butyl windshield kit with modified setting blocks at the bottom to allow for the aluminum trim to clear down into the opening and always 19 new trim clips (install first) I have a simple tube that a pin punch fits inside to hold the trim clip tight against the frame and the punch end drives the securing pin in place. Set the butyl at the inside edge of the opening and with a helper, center and set the windshield in place and press so you can see thru the glass that the butyl has contacted all the way around. It can be helpful to mark on the windshield where the clips are located to know where to press. Straighten the trim, assemble it in location and start snapping in at the center bottom and corners. I occasionally use a soft wood block to carefully secure a difficult clip. Each clip should "snap in" when secure. Enjoy the new view! Brad |
