Dad is convinced that he has a brand new bad ignition switch. He says he is going to install a push button like so many have suggested so he can test everything.. He really wants to hear it run..
I talked with Rob (member here) last week and he is going to send some item's for dad .. Great community for sure.. |

The new Chinese made switches that are sold just about everywhere are total garbage. |

I think he plans to try it. He is very concerned he was getting the flare up /rashes on his hands becuase of his car being full of some sort of urine from years of barn storage.. Hi Ben. If your dad lives near Madison, I am willing to help out. As long as my rheumatics don’t kick in too much. |

Thanks guys. He actually lives in Racine by the lake.
Regarding switches. The 1st switch was from pelican and he tested 12v in then after switch drops to about 8v and drops to 7.4 by the time it gets to the solenoid.. The 2nd switch he bought through a friend that had a world pac account.. Did the same thing.. My thoughts are both switches are junk.. So fast forward to this morning. I called him and he again told me what was going on. I convinced him to use a push button jumper from battery to the solenoid as a temporary set up. Dad called me this afternoon and was very excited as he got it running.. Yeah!.. I feel like I should get in touch with uro about their switches??? The good news aftee sitting for no less then 10 years the engine is now running.. Thanks again everyone for your help.. Pictures will be tomorrow. |

Awesome I was just thinking about this build today and was hoping Dad was still knocking it out. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)
Glass is sitting on my bench, will drop off Monday with my shipping crew, they will box it up and send it on its way. |

He is welcome. Your Welcome too Ben, love seeing my father keep work. My grandfather taught me my work ethic, when I was a teenager and he was in his 60s he could still out work me. Heart of gold, and hands of steel. Damn I miss him (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Damn I miss him (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) The funny thing is yesterday I spent the afternoon working with my oldest son priming and painting his 944 parts .. It is the perfect father son experience.. |

Dad got a window from stephen today.. He is really making progress. Though winter is closing in and he likely wont work on it in the winter. He does have a small work area in the basement and has some 914 projects he will do over the winter.
I will get some updated pictures soon. |

Went to dad's the other day for a bit. We were looking at his 356 parts He is ready to sell to fund his 914 project.. We then decided to start his car..this was the second time I heard it run and last time I thought it ran rough.. I have not heard a type 4 run in years as been around 6s to long I guess. Listend to the car the other day and said that I thought it was missing.. We had been discussing that it might have something up like low compression, injectors, ignition wire's etc. I started pulling wires off and found a dead cylinder. I then concentrated on the 356 parts as He was kind of upset about the 914 .. Dad calls me yesterday and said he had the plug wires in the wrong order since he got it running.. So running on the front 2 cylinders only..
Problem solved.. Now to sell his 356 parts.. |
