where should the timing mark be while idling? TDC?

I know it should show 30 degrees at 6k.

I'm dialing it in (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/clap.gif)

it should be wherever it needs to be to give you 30* at 6000 rpm.

but make a note of it - it'll make static timing the next time easier.

for a total shot-in-the-dark, static-time to 5*BTDC, but that's not important; the 6000 rpm advance is.

Thanks. Got it.

Used a basic timing light.
Then Mark doubled checked it with his adjustable light.
Idles at 8*BTDC.
6k=30*

Yay. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/clap.gif)
The Pertronix are good, BTW.
