I don't have the engman unit, but I have an earlier one, may even be homemade using bicycle cable. One thing I'd suggest is mounting in the engine compartment, shorter run means less issues, even if a bit of a PITA opening your engine lid all the time.
Also an issue I have is the lid not popping enough to clear the lock mechanism. I am going to reengineer the way it pops open. |

I've had the engman kit installed on my car for about 13 years, haven't had any problems with it since it was installed. I have my hands on another kit that I picked up hell I don't know when. Thinking this kit may go to Jim Hoyland.

I installed a spal solenoid and tied it to the alarm remote. A lot less hastle than a cable.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) When I had a reflector on my car I always had a mechanical over ride. I used it more often then the solenoid since it usually took two people with the electric release. |

I used it more often then the solenoid since it usually took two people with the electric release. I had the same problem with the wimpy solenoid that came with the kit. That spal solenoid is very beafy and solved that problem. I also drilled an 1/8" hole at the top of the "S" in the reflector for emergencys. |
