I think this is something a lot of folks could use.... hoping you can reproduce these units.

I don't have the engman unit, but I have an earlier one, may even be homemade using bicycle cable. One thing I'd suggest is mounting in the engine compartment, shorter run means less issues, even if a bit of a PITA opening your engine lid all the time.

Also an issue I have is the lid not popping enough to clear the lock mechanism. I am going to reengineer the way it pops open.

I've had the engman kit installed on my car for about 13 years, haven't had any problems with it since it was installed. I have my hands on another kit that I picked up hell I don't know when. Thinking this kit may go to Jim Hoyland.

I installed a spal solenoid and tied it to the alarm remote. A lot less hastle than a cable.

When I had a reflector on my car I always had a mechanical over ride. I used it more often then the solenoid since it usually took two people with the electric release.

I had the same problem with the wimpy solenoid that came with the kit. That spal solenoid is very beafy and solved that problem. I also drilled an 1/8" hole at the top of the "S" in the reflector for emergencys.
