working on peicing together a 911 front suspension and i was curious if the crossmembers are the same (other than the aluminum bit) and will alow for the use of 911 control arms on a 914 cross member

Yes, but the 911 & 914 covers mounts different.

That's what I'm running. Works just fine and keeps the weight low and up front where the 914 needs it.

I'm going the opposite and it works.
Putting the 914-4 A-arms onto the 911 aluminum crossmember with 911 struts.
It's all pretty interchangeable.
Excepting the cover panel that bolts on from below as previously pointed out.
