We are organizing the a/x portion of Parade, contacts are being made and will prove helpfull with WCC06 in PDX.

I'm betting Parade will include a PCA club race and a DE (which we could get our cars onto the track)

I had a BLAST at last years Parade.. I do enjoy seeing *other* Porsches sitting around.

The *SIG* group had their own "corral" area at Parade 04. I *thought* we could do the same.

The site for the previous 2 WCC's were a direct result of having someone sick enough to step up to act as host. (thanks Jeff and Howard). The dates were determined by the availability of sites and activities.

I am willing to take the lead in planning a future WCC event in Vegas. There are only 2 other active Club members in Vegas. We would need A LOT of help from people out of town to pull it off.

If Craig (or someone else from the PNW) is crazy enough to host the WCC for 2006, I think we should accept their offer. Having the experience of a 3rd event will make it a bit easier to plan a future WCC in Vegas.

My vote = Portland in 2006, Vegas in 2007.

I suggest you Portland types start phone calling each other to determine who's gonna take the lead. Just don't hold your first meeting at a Kosher Restaurant....it gives ya heartburn (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/icon8.gif)

My vote = Portland in 2006, Vegas in 2007.

My vote too (although Reno for 2007 sounds better to me).

I did not make it to either 2004 or 2005, but I can guarantee you I WILL be there for 2006 wherever it is held. I have to drive through Las Vegas to get to Portland, but driving through is really all I ever want to do with Las Vegas. If the event is ever held there, I'll be there, but only because of the event - not because of the location.

If we end up piggybacking with the Portland Classics event, and it is on the same weekend in 2006, it would be cool for my wife because the annual Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show is the second weekend in July. (Now that might be cool - drive to Sisters on Saturday and show off the 914s to about 20,000 quilters. Ok, there's probably only two of us on this list who have an interest in both 914s and quilting - nevermind.)

As far as names are concerned, I think "West Coast Classic" applies if it is held anywhere west of the Arizona/New Mexico border. Given the driving distance from San Diego to Seattle, you could even argue that anywhere west of the New Mexico/Texas border would still fit the idea of being driveable from the west coast - which is my idea of how to apply the name.

I absolutely agree with those who have mentioned that what makes the event work is that people hang out together. I've been to family reunions where everyone was running off in small groups to nearby attractions - there wasn't a whole lot of getting acquainted/reacquainted that went on because everyone was somewhere else.

I will nominate myself to organize Reno 07' (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif) over Vegas. For some weird reason I read "showing off our teeners to 20,000 KILTERS?" I need some sleep (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)

You scared me for a moment - I thought I'd mistyped it! Most of the quilters I know look pretty good in a kilt. (or does it have a different name if a woman is wearing it?) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

I was up late and early with my 2 yr old daughter. It did make me laugh for some reason (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)
For those interested in an 07' Reno, I do have skills in organizing anything but paper (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) I have done many sales meetings and the sort, sooo I would be willing to part with any free time I thought I might have to make a fun event. As it's been pointed out Vegas after April is a tad warm (I've been there in July when it was 110), but there is a lot to do if your bringing a family (read non car people). You don't have to gamble to have fun or see the sights. I been there about 8 times.

I voted for the PNW because I have never been there. I have seen pictures and I know they have trees (shade) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) and I'm sure that there are things for a family to do.

People mention distance all the time when considering if there are going to come to a event. At the last WCC there were at least 20 people who had come 500 miles and more (3500 miles in one case) to get to the event. All it takes is planning. You have a year to fix your car, arrange holidays, save for gas money, plan your route and come.

I'll be there.......where ever it is held.

With a car this time. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

I think my chances of attending next year are about 80%, so factor that into what little weight my opinion deserves accordingly.

I voted Portland because is seems like a more temperature friendly place to be in a 914. The "piggyback with PCA" part makes me a little nervous though. Since I would definitely drive the V8, I'm not sure how well my car (or any of the other dozen or so bastard cars that would come) would be received at PCA sanctioned events. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif) I personally like 914 people much more than I like PCA people as a group, and so I am much more interested in a 914 event than a PCA event. Let's just say I'm guessing there weren't any Neverland sanctioned Emergency Tequila Distribution Urban Assault Vehicles at the last PCA gathering.
