We have made the Washington/Oregon crowd drive to our events twice now, not to mention the Canadians this year. I think we should let them rest next year and have the event in their area. It's our turn to drive.

Since the last two WCC's were held in SoCal, I would just like to comment that those involved in the organizing now have some history and experience putting on "The Show." If an '06 SoCal event was organized by that same group, it would go a long way towards a smooth and well executed program. As was mentioned earlier, these kinds of events take a surprising amount of time , effort, and an inventory of contacts, to put it all together; much of which already exists. This is worth a lot, in my book.

Just thought I'd toss this out for consideration.

WCC 04 was in norcal, and organized by a different group. I don't think anyone would be insane enough to organize 2 WCCs in a row, and I certainly wouldn't ask that of them.

I think it should also be held after school gets out so families can bring thier kids and some of the members here are teachers as well. Do we have anyone up in Reno?

If this is after school is out Portland all the way or Reno would be good also. Kids would hate the drive from Dallas but love it once we got there. Or I could fly them up on passes and take a rider from DFW area some one who can drive pulling a trailer. PS I dont stop except for gas.

Hmmm, If'n I had to choose a great 9-4-teen get together place I'd have to choose Reno or Vegas.

If in Reno:
The SoCal contingency can go via 395, 5, or whatever. Take a trip by Lake Tahoe, Thru Joshua Tree, hit a hot spring or two, and blow all their cash if they like at the black jack tables.
Reno=70degrees and still sunny with nice breeze. Surrounded by snow capped mountains. Lot's of twists and turns gettin' there. Mustang Ranch did close down but there are others... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) ohhhh, uhhh, so i've heard. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

If in Vegas:
F-ing hot. They've got everything a teener could possibley want, and somethings i'm sure most teeners do not want. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)
Did I mentin "hot"? Long boring drive to get there. No windies, twisties, or turnines, to pass the time.

If in Portland:
Hmmm, Portland has fun things going on. Home brew, great local music, good seafood. Oh and the people DO like to party. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/cool.gif)
It is very nice to visit butttttt......

Heck, I'd go almost anywhere to be with the club in '06 at the WCC. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

Bring it.

I'll step up and throw in my hat to help organize a Portland event.

For the record we all saw that, we are just ignoring it to let you slip away when you realize what a huge headache/pita it is to be lead organizer.

Unless your serious, and you want the lead thing, and in that case, Viva Portland!

As a longtime resident of the PNW, (I grew up in the aformentioned Hood River) I'd say if we do the event in June/july/August your going to have alot better chance for good weather.

I think doing the loop from Portland, down the Gorge to Hood River, Up Hiway35 over the shoulder of the moutain, over summit pass, Lunch at the Timberline Lodge (Right on the mountain. You park here to climb Mount Hood), down back into Portland would be a fantastic Event.

I can see it now, a stop at Multnomah falls, to get some photos, down to Hood River for some pictures of Windsurfers, up Highway 35, (Right past my Gma's house), to Timberline, More pictures, and down to portland. Should be about 3-5 hours. Additional points, we can stop at Cascade locks (ever wanted to ride a Stern Wheeler?), In Hood River we can stop at Panorama Point, and a few other places I'm sure people can chime in on.

That's the mess we had in 04 with the PCA AX,

QUOTE
You just can't bring 100 of your closest friends to someone else's party.

You can if you let them know you are coming. PCA is dying to have "our" group show up to their events. Every single Zone event I attend the PCA zone president ask's me how to get "our" people to their events.

I know what kind of pain in the ass POC can be.. we have ran combined weekends with them at Laguna Seca..

B

We could have piggybacked the POC event this year and gone to the track on Sunday. Sure would have saved Andy a bunch of work. But since they already had 80 cars coming out, I chose not to add our 75 to the mix and have the same 'mess' as the 04 AX with little seat time or the half lap around Laguna Seca fiasco.

IMHO POC is not a pain in the ass. Their instructors (unpaid) really helped make our track day possible. They contributed more to WCC2005 than the 914club did.

More on that. As most of you know, WCC05 was not a 914club event. It was a party thrown by a dozen local people for their 914 friends.

If 06 is to be a 914club event, then admin should handle it. If not, hopefully another dozen suckers will do it.

Taking Sir Andy's comments, would the past organizers be able to pass on the contacts list? Kind of make a "Bible" of WCC. This is what we did when it was actually my job to do different events, tradeshows, sales meetings etc... Just pass the "book" to the next poor soul (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif)

Oh, and if it's in Reno, I will be glad to be one of the people (suckers) setting it up.

I've done events up to 200 people with live music and food/drinks...

I know the area well and have several contacts living in or around Reno. I can get discounts at hotels and with the cities blessing, probably get the cities support for showing off our babies on main street. Hmmm, sounds pretty good.... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

It does take a lot of time but with the support of people like 914club, it would be too much fun to not help on that one. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

Oh and BTW, spring skiing will still be in effect if it's any time near when it was in '05.

My morning oatmeal was unmolested. I was just joking around! Sometimes I feel like I'm all alone out here in the desert is all. There are dozens of active 914 owners on the West side of Washington, but over here on the East side we are few and far between. Last year, not counting autocross events, I saw a total of ZERO 914's (excluding mine). I live in a wasteland (kidding. I like it here). That's all I'm saying. I've always been a big fan of one or two leaders who delegate to willing support people.

A group may not be a bad idea. I would be in. It has been a few years, but I use to sponsor a small event each year for the PNWR. If we had a small group, things could be divided up to tackle in small pieces.

Where the hell is Craig? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) Probably freeked that 50+ 914's might show up on his door step next year. My vote = Portland in 2006, Vegas in 2007
??

I thought we were rotating amongst the three west coast venues...for variety and to distribute travel requirements more or less equivalently...

Bay Area, Portland and SoCal.

While Vegas isn't SoCal, its near enough to be the venue when its planned for SoCal. Vegas and Portland are both 10 hour+ haul from the Bay Area, so either way...

If its Vegas in 2007 (I like the 2-year look-ahead), then does the Bay Area get skipped?

I think we should be looking for WCC2007 in the Bay Area and WCC2008 in Vegas...
