I purchased a new throttle cable from Pelican. Yes it was the cheapest one they had. I figured it's a cable, how bad can it be. The ferrel that is on the end which mates to the firewall fell off when I removed it from the packaging. I installed it anyway. Needles to say, I am greatly disappointed. What a piece of junk. We used to run some really nice cables in the off road cars. Thick didn't bind etc. But the few places that used to carry them are all out of business. Please direct me to a good cable. I don't want to do this 3 times.

This thread makes me sad, as the first part I bought for my car was the gemo cable. It seems to work fine, but if I routed it up through the proper hole in the tin, it wasn't flexible enough and would bind. I figured it was just an issue with the carb linkage setup, but maybe it's not.

Just had the same thing happen to me. when I installed the cable it was hard to get to feed smoothly through the tin and then the cable came loose at the ferrel (?) at the firewall. and the throttle would not return all the way. I ended up buying another one, that just happened to be a Gemo from someone off of fleabay. it fit good and works much smoother than the other one , that also had zero miles on it. I don't know what brand the old one was. Probably URO. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) I may have to look into these terry cables |
