Think it was the emergency flasher that I was taking pictures of and just now, when I zoomed in, I noticed what seems to be a DIY resister. Maybe not. Looks suspect. Any ideas?

The resistor is hooked to the instrument lighting circuit and is used to make the light in the knob glow when the lights are on.
