We are two months away from WCR 2017 and we need to get some trophies started by the participants!
Last couple years with homemade trophies were fantastic! Lets continue the tradition! Categories: Original 4cylinder - tygaboy Original 6 cylinder - tygaboy Water cooled Engine conversion (not just size but best overall job) - Cracker Flared 914 - jrust Furthest distance traveled - tygaboy Driving Project - Mueller Porsche Engine conversion (not just size but best overall job) Coolest non 914 That Guy/Gal I dont want to put this all on one person, I made 4 last year and it took a substantial amount of work. So if we can get more people to volunteer that would be great. |

I'll take-on the "Water Cooled" award; however, there is no guarantee the winner will want it though! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Geez, two project cars, a day job, a side job doing metal art and now I get shamed into this! By my "friends"!
Have I said how much I love 914 World?!? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) OK, I'll do: Original 4 cylinder Original 6 cylinder Let me get these going and if I have time, I'll take on others. Heads up, they may not fit in the trunk of a 914. Let me know if that's not OK... |

Speaking that most people are driving without a support vehicle I think its a good idea to make the trophy general trophy size. If your going to do something "Larger" then maybe just make it for the raffle prize (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Being that "water cooled" engines are so damn efficient...my H20 trophy will be too. It will fit nicely in a small area...like a desk top. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)
T PS: If I were to say my award would measure up to roughly one-quarter scale (or less!) to Chris's renditions...I don't just mean the size! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) |

Perhaps we could integrate some cool looking back lighting to make up for the smaller scaled version (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

OK, so here's the initial design for the "Original 6" trophy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif)
I'm thinking I'll stack this on a strip to emulate the steps in the emblem, then stand it off a solid background and frame it in 1x1" square steel tubing. All done, I'm thinking 3' wide. Sound OK? The second pic is a sign I did for a local school that'll give you an idea of what I'm talking about... Attached thumbnail(s) Attached image(s) |

Chris: You ought to start a build thread for your trophies - shame the rest of us mere mortals. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)

Well, I don't know about that...
Anyway, here's a more final-ish version. Still some tweaking to do but again, you get the idea. Should be pretty cool and, hopefully, something our winner will proudly display. Attached thumbnail(s) |
