(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) It's a PC game, pretty good graphics, but put it on a big monitor and it gets obvious.
First clue watch the tire smoke.

Yup, video game (Xbox 360) and it's not even the current generation.

Current Gen Forza Horizon 3, here is a snapshot I took in-game.

Forza horizon 3 is nust insane... I keep asking my wife to let me get an xbox 1, but I just get the same answer.

Im waiting till VR really picks up more steam before I plunk my play money down for a new system.

LOL, I've gone-in pretty deep with a Playseat, Fanatec wheel/pedal/shifter setup and 24" monitor...Xbox One Forza Edition. I can tell you the force-feedback of a GOOD wheel setup makes all the difference. You cannot seriously do driving sims/games with a handheld controller. Fanatec now even makes pedals in bottom-hinge and top-hinge versions...

I also McGuyver'ed some shaker transducers using a small power amp, low-pass crossovers and the actual shakers. That adds a lot of fun/realism too as you actually feel the curbs and bumps.

Chris, Pic of your setup?

I use an old Momo Force Feedback, but want to step up to a G27 or G25.

So far my favorite drive simulation is Project Cars, particularly for the Nurburgring. Followed closely by GT6, then Forza for modifying cars.

My PC is windows 7 or I'd put forza horizon 3 on it.

My buddy has the g27 and on forza 6 i couldnt get it down. The force feedback isn't all that great. Its equivalent to driving on snow. One second your on the edge of grip and its fighting you, the next its just a wet noodle. and the pedal feel for the brake could use an extra spring or 2.

Im sure if i spent a little more time it'd come together. But i stick to the controler, I like to drift on forza and after breaking 3 wheels (lost the FFB motor on all 3) it was getting expensive.

Here are some pics of my rig. (Sorry for the dust and dog hair...our two dogs unfortunately love to hang right here.)

I can say from experience having had various Logitech wheels and others over the years, this Fanatec stuff is in a different league. Before you go look at prices, you may want to have a drink in your hand. It's a German company.

The Playseats are not horribly expensive, and can be found on ebay/cl. The monitor stand I got isn't the greatest but supposedly can hold up to a 32-34".

The tiny amp is pretty neat, a cheap imported thing but the key for Xbox use is Optical input. I think it's a Class D that puts out like 50WPC... It is only used as a sub amp for the shakers as there's a small soundbar under the monitor, but normally we use headphones for the main audio.

It's been a many year project (started as a PS2 and Logitech Gxx, IIRC), and there's always more you can mess with. SIGNIFICANT fabrication and cable management (haha) has been entailed. My next plan is to bolt the whole rig to thick plywood for rigidity and to make it slightly easier to move around. Without a solid base ("floorpan"), it flexes too much in-use and also is a bitch to move.

There's another PC & XBox racing sim called Asseto Corsa that I plan to check out as soon as I can drive again (that's a story for a different thread).

Use a cut up 914 floor pan to mount everything too, Hell you could even used a stock or racing seat. That should be rigid enough for Games.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but Chris, seeing different mechanical goodies behind the pedals... Do they actually use hydraulics or something to differentiate a feel between clutch and brake? Feedback is one thing, but it looks like you've got a lot more going on there. Are there game pedals that simulate clutch vs brake pressure "feel" ?
(I know there are on the big money simulators, but it looks like you have some of that going on?)
