I think Porsche has always had a problem with having to keep the 911 in it's flagship position when there were better, mid engined designs back when ( remember how #1 was configured). The 916 was probably the closest they came, but didn't want to hurt the 911s sales and profitability.
The Cayman is probably the best car Porsche is currently building, but I'm glad they're offering choices as I enjoy my 911 as well as the 914-6s, and am very tempted with the Mecan as a daily driver. |
