My stock 1.7 w code motor is being built and will run twin 40 webers. The engine came with a distributor with the following part number 022 905 205 H and part of the fuel injection on it.
It has a vac advance and appears to be in excellent condition inside. Will the above carb / dizzy combo work? If not what set up have people found to work best based on my set up? |

I'd build it with a better cam, mild carb cam for a small displacement engine. A Web 86 or scat C-25 are mild carb cams without the huge lifts of bigger cams.
If too late for a cam change I'd bite the bullet and do a stock 1.7, or 1.8 L-jet or MS EFI system. For the MS I'd mod the runners a 2.0 plenum TB and air cleaner assembly. Weber's I'd use a mallory red cap dizzy, new or you can buy used and mod the points to the unilight or a pertronix ignitor. 2nd choice for cheap I'd use a L-jet bus or 914 dizzy and block off the vac advance. 3rd choice(s) would be something like the 123 dizzy or a megajolt jr ignition. |
