I need to buy harnesses and a guide bar. How much should I expect to spend for each and what are some decent harnesses? Of course I want them to be safe but I don't need the biggest, baddest belts out there.

Any suggestions as to brands/model numbers and the best place to buy them would be very appreciated!

Thanks.

The Racer's Group sells 5 point, camlock, M&R belts for $150 a set.

Ditch the harness bar, and just bolt through the fire wall at the *right* height. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

If you're looking for a local source, look for Anglo American Racing at 5th Av and I-17 (something like that)

They have the harnesses, but won't have the bar. You can get the bar from Pelican and the like. If you can wait a while, I'll be selling mine.

I'll check them out. Do the harnesses just attatch to the back wall and the existing mounts near the floor?

You can get clip in belts that attach to ring bolts that thread into the stock lower locations. The sub belt goes through the floor and the shoulder belts go through the fire wall.

I have 7 white T-shirts, with black webbing sewn on, to look like safety belts.

I hate tickets.

Do you wear those over your tuxedo t-shirt? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

ditch the bar

From what I have heard and seen, the proper location of the shoulder belts is slightly lower than the top of the shoulder of the driver.

All the racecars at TRG are set-up this way. Supossed to be the safest point, as it will hold you better in a wreck.

The bolt-in harness bar is set very high up... unless you are really tall. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

FIA has a spec for this.... a certain degree for the angle at which your belts should meet your shoulder

and the harness is supposed to come from above your shoulder... (from what ive read)
if anchored below your shoulder line (and not draped over something like a harness bar)it can compress your spine in a crash....

just a thought.

I had a harness bar in my car for about a week. It is in an odd position, if you are tall and like the seat all the way back, you may have a problem.
