And... we'll need a bouncer, er enforcer. There may be times when a driver needs to focus and will need his/her privacy. Also, if something needs mechanical attention, we'll need to keep the number of helpful hands appropriate to the task.

Just to keep things running well.

The man in charge has gotta know! Thanks for the agenda Erik, I especially liked the umbrella girls part! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif) So who is the general? Who is the head of the 914 racing skunk works? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/idea.gif) We need our own Huschke! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/burnout.gif) Come on guys, you gotta know who Huschke von Hanstein was! One man Porsche Racing Department in the early days. Hell, I gotta print of Hans Herrmann driving the wheels off a 550 signed by Huschke in my office. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_wirdgut.gif)

Chris and fellow 914 racers, I can be counted on for some $$$ but won't be able to be at the runoffs[at least not yet]. This will be awesome for the 914 community whether one races or not!!! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif)

Once we get a hold of the track people and have assurances there will be a location for us to set up we will arrange a paypal account for the donations.
I'd have you send it to me but it would be gone long before the Runoffs. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/happy11.gif)

BTW,
If this plan comes together I will definitely be mounting a 914 club windshield banner on the race car for the TV cameras. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rocking nana.gif)

There is no way I could make it out there, but I'd love to help any way I could. I would be willing to donate a webserver to get your info on a site, and to upload pics and results to, etc. Let me know if you'd be interested in that, and who would be the contact person and I can get things setup.

I vote for William Harris being the overall GC for this. It isn't necessary for him to be on-site during the event if he has a First Mate who he can rely on to stay in contact.
This would take some pressure off of Brad who can play a supporting role, coordinating with the magazine, etc.
Now we need someone who will step up and be at the event to make sure everything runs smoothly that week. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wavey.gif)

Thanks for the suggestion Chris. As I've said many times, I will do anything you guys want me to do. Maybe Brad, you and me and the other players can conference next week. We need a clear plan and then to execute it. No way we can go spending other people's money and sponsorship until the deal is done. We don't want to come across to the SCCA and track as amateur hour. In the meanwhile, I will start making calls to Mid-Ohio locations re tent rental, rates, etc. Someone needs to find out exactly where and what we can place in the paddock, if anything. Let me know. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/icon_bump.gif) Damn, this thread is slipping away and no plan of action!!! Come on guys, we can't let this opportunity fade away!!! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/welder.gif) and the racers deserve our support. Brad said he was going to see the magazine people over the weekend and let us know today. It's still only a little after 6am their time.
William, you should leave a message on Brad's cell phone.
After that you may be able to call the track. Erik M. posted names of appropriate contact people there, in an earlier post.

OK, here's the deal on a tent rental. Remember we are talking about a one week event. Tent sizes are generally 20x20 or 40x40. A 20x20 (one tent) runs about $120 per day. If you want 4 20x20s that would be 4 x120 per day. A 40x40 runs $400 to $500 per day depending on the tent type, etc. So, the tent rental alone could run $2,500 to $3,500 per the week. So, the Vintage Magazine maybe better let us know about a budget or we are just dreaming. Vintage Magazine? Are they saying we are Vintage? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif) I that a gentle way of saying we are old and obsolete? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif)

Still no news from Brad whether his contacts are serious about this effort.
No response from Mid-Ohio AFAIK.

I have contacts with a couple of Manchester CT rental companies. Maybe we can get a good deal on a tent if we want to haul it and set it up ourselves but it won't be 40x40, that's for sure. Considering the rental prices William found maybe we should buy our own large tent instead.
The Mid-Ohio approvals have to be first though; Erik, do you have anything to report? Should we have William hound them instead of you diverting your attention from prepping your car?

I hope this isn't dead in the water already. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/unsure.gif)

Good Morning Kalifornia. If you don't help our 914 racers, Arnold says you are a girlie-man (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif) Racer Chris (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/welder.gif) - maybe we better plan on buying that tent. Ask Thorshammer to let me know about the best contact source at Mid-Ohio and I will make calls today. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/type.gif)

What the hell is going on here? All week no one has stepped up to the plate to help our racers!!! This is real (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/bs.gif) I have gone ahead and contacted Mid-Ohio to find out about space for a tent. Racer Chris, Thors Hammer and the rest of the racers must think we are a bunch of computer jockies, while they are the real deal. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/burnout.gif) Like any club, 95 percent of the members bitch about stuff, and 5 percent (or less) of the members do all the work.
