SO fun to watch. Fantastic work! I can't imagine how tired you must be, and yet charging strong through the last mile. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

what feels like a slow and frustrating day, i did finally get the oil lines moved after much work- lines are no longer kinked and now i can get back to business.
next up- put battery in, put gas in- i already topped off the oil, I am wondering if there is a special proceedure to prime the pump snd get the oil pressure up before firing up the motor, i vaugly remember something about that. - rear license plate lights, finish targa trim once the stuff comes( not hear yet, was supposed to be today) and prep for potential storm |

This rear targa bolster is the repro one being carried by 914rubber but i think has been made by AA - anyway the fit and finish is super and this will last a lifetime and not peel crack etc like the original ones. Yes, they can probably improve the grain to be more accurate for the concourse weenies but this is great for me and it really looks super, now for finishing off the rest of the trim around the targa bar/ sail panels. i have a few parts due in the next few days that i am excited about getting on the car to finish it up. Don't you mean "Concours Weenie?" FWIW, I prefer the term "Originalist!" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) Seriously, your progress is inspiring and the results, Amazing! When you put in your sail panel trim, what adhesive did you use? |

finally got the battery in and it was dead, even after 2 days in charger no charge-
i head over get new one- this was less than 2 years and sat for 9 months, get new battery in and yes the starter cranks, but no fuel pump sound, crap, that is one thing i didnt replace. it was fine a year ago, it was probably only 5 years old. , but now its time for testing circuits. i cleaned all grounds and tripple checked connections. dang. |

To prime the oil system, I pull the lead off the coil and crank the engine (in 15 sec run to 1 min rest) until the oil light goes out.

check the fuel pump relay and the board itself before thinking the fuel pump is dead.

in the morning i will check the power at the pump, then if there is not, i will go back to relay board.
When i started to get car ready for paint, it was running good but i noticed that the pump was becoming more noisy, so maybe a year of sitting did it in. i am hoping it is that easy. Tomorrow could be a long day! #1. figure out fuel pump #2. trouble shoot right rear tail light, left front euro conversion driving light is not working, but lights pop up all other lights seem to work. its hard to tell what could be the issue when there are so many things i worked on- new alternator and harness, all new fuel lines, fuel filter etc but i didnt change out the pump, or relay board, and the dash and fuse box is exactly how it was before. i have not yet wired the aux oil cooler fan, and it can wait. a few more pics from work today sail panel trim in! ok so i need a hand- i have no power to the fuel pump, but lights work, car cranks wirh new battery- i switched out relays, didnt help,
so i am going to try a different relay board- does the power go to pump from the 14 pin socket? - guys my electrical understanding is very basic i am not going to read a-schematic but if i see a picture of which pin is which i can trouble shoot- i looked and the step by step by jeff Bowlsby but thst is worthless. with out a diagram of which pin is what bla bla like a code with out a cypher |

I don't have a '75 schematic, but on a '73, it looks like power comes in at pin 14 to the relay board, then through the 25A fuse, then to pin 30 on the pump relay. Covering simple things, did you check the fuse? That is the circuit to power the pump. It looks like jumping between pin 13 and 14 should send power directly to your pump, bypassing the relay.
To energize the pump relay, it looks like the power supply relay also has to be energized so both relays need to be in place and working. It looks like that relay is getting power on the black wire on pin 8 of the 14-pin connector and grounding through pin 10. Both of those relays require a ground through the ECU so that could be another demon to chase. |

i tried a different relay board and still no power to the pump-
no one other strange thing - there is a black wire up above that is just haning there, and it is hot, has 12v constant with and with out key turned i have no idea what its for , it is out of the harness by where the antenna wire comes thru and the main harness- again its hot weird, Attached thumbnail(s) |

i could use it as a powet source for my fuel pump I say get some power to the pump and make sure it runs! Bottom line is that with all of the work done you could have broken a wire anywhere along the harness. Worse comes to worse after confirming the pump and car runs, you can just run a temporary wire from a switched power point on the fuse block as a short term fix. |

Lookin' good, Phil! Have you bypassed the seat belt interlock relay under the passenger seat? Might be worth a try.
Also, is that your E39 in the background? I have an '03 530i 5-speed with 107K on it. Love that car! |
