I've gotten to the point where the rear trunk lid needs to go over 2 more mm to center it. If I widen the slot on the hinge where the bolts are currently located, it should give me the added space to move the lid.

You may try loosening the bolts and pushing the lid as far as possible in the direction you want it to go, then tightening them while holding pressure. This may do enough without modification.
