As soon as I get the tank done, I will have all of the pieces and should be able to get it on. It should be a week. I still have to paint your mirror and send it out (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif) Its been sitting on my desk for a while.

So Mike - What are the dimensions on those lines that you drew for the Euro side markers? What lights did you use? Are they surface mount? (Some lights that I've seen on Jettas and such have a depression in the body for the light to fit into.) I've always wanted to do that change to a 914. |

They were like $20 and are not surface mount. You can find them in a number of places on line, but I don't know where I did. Even your FLAPS should have some. They need a small hole drilled, about 1/2" for the base. As for the measurements, I just put one where I liked it and measured it so the other side would be correct. Arbitrary, actually. You should be able to do the same with the same success.

I didn't mean that a surface mount light wouldn't need any holes for mounting - just that it would do ok mounted right on the surface of the fender without fancy bodywork. I'll have to look around. Thanks, Mike!

Ah, yes. I see. The ones that I got were kinda shitty, but the other brands should bolt right up to the same holes. Jim, Shhhhhh, no one needs to know. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) |

Just got back (early because of a dinner engaugement). Got the tranny fully installed, plug wires installed, tin installed, spots on the floor preped for painting, trunk release tube removed, and fuel tank cleaned out and readied for metal ready treatment.
Noel did the tank work all by herself and was awsome! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif) I took pics, but forgot to install a memory card (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif) There are some snaggs, though (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif) I'll post in a separate thread as I have questions. Well.....new problem (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif)
I went to hook up my hard oil line and to my suprise the fitting on the engine block is much bigger than the oneon the end of the line (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif) Why me? So, I guess that I need to look for the correct fitting now.....but where? |

Found a new adapter from GPR for $12.
Yesterday I rebuilt and mounted my CV/axles, Noel put the metal ready in the tank and then washed the inside, and I talked to the throttle bell crank with a hammer and made it work perfectly. I need to finish the tank, hoses, and the wiring. I am going over the schematics and mating the 911 harness to the 914 one. |

Today was great! I got the connector fot the hard oiil line to the block from a friend and hooked up the last line. I hooked up the speedo cable, the drivers axle, and the passenger side header. It is very close. I am almost done drawing up a schematic for mating the 911 system wiring to the 914.

The latest:
-Finished install of exhaust and headers....perfect! -Got nipple from ejm and it will work perfectly (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif) -I am almost done making the harness for adapting the CDI box, 911 and 914 harnesses. I just quit as I am sure that I will make a mistake if I continue. What else I did today: Assembled the internals for two different fuel tanks for my bikes. PITA! I think that I will be taking my car to TJ on Mon regardless of if it runs or not. I need to get all of the body/paint done before I move. I need to get the tank finished, harness finished, gauges wired up still. |
