How much would you expect to pay for an original 914-6 engine that is in need of a rebuild? I have the engine serial number code... where can one verify that it's an actual original 6 from a 914?

901/38 was a 70-72 USA-emissions 914/6 engine (per Bruce Anderson's performance book)
- not an alu case (those are worth MUCH cuz you can secretly build 'em into durable stealth big motors and get past the scrutineers at vintage race venues that monitor such stuff) p.s. - 110 hp DIN = 125 SAE as advertised back then FS- $13,500 ask - rebuilt 6404534 http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=329465 i sold a decent rebuildable 901/38 long block for $500 a few yrs ago - not worth rebuilding one imho - - dunno why anyone would really want a oem 2.0 with non-counterweighted crank & gasketed cyl heads, unless one is obsessed with number matching for auction value, and does not care much about performance |
