I know a guy who works at the lighting research station in Florida.........some of the pic and equipment they use to take the pics are Here about 1/2 way down the page.....

They shoot rockets with wires attached when condishions are right and take pictures of what happens.....and get payed for it.......... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

that would be a great job!! i saw a program on discovery channel or somewhere, about those guys doing that here in fl., maybe it was your friend!!

i received an "honerable mention" award for this one in nikon's international photo contest back in 88/89. it was titled "a close encounter", reminded me of the RR crossing scene in the movie "close encounters of the 3rd kind".

and this was shot during that same storm. it was suppose to have been a self portrait, but the exposure got a little long and there was so much lightening it just washed me out.
