When I was in high school (OMG THAT WAS 20 YEARS AGO) a girl in my class died from doing this with freon. They would load up a garbage bag and stick their heads in for the same affect as what this guy describes. The entire school attended the funeral.

I thought nitrous oxide was lighter than air so it could not displace all the oxygen inside your lungs.

Halon could do this as could a great number of inert gasses that are heavier than air.

OK I really have to rant on this one. I am sorry that old dude lost his son, but damn. People are so stupid. I guess this could be referred to as "thinning the gene pool". I understand that you want to be cool and not the odd man out, but get real. Kids are stupid as hell. I had a kid in high school die huffing and was more outraged that he did something like that than the fact that he died. I may be an insensitive ass with little to no compassion for others, how many kids have to die doing something retarded before they take responsibility for their actions. It was no ones fault, they made the decision on their own. (yes I know the author appeared to place no blame) People in general are pretty stupid when they put something into their body that doesn't belong there.

No, it just induces imbalances in brain chemistry causing metal problems.
Screws with your Seratonin levels and production among other things.

Makes me laugh when i hear people say that weed cant hurt you.

I just knew there was a reason for so many crazy people on this board! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

and watchout water will kill ya and change brain chemistry too!

(February 2005), a college student died after drinking too much ... water.

"A Chico fraternity pledge died of water poisoning, authorities said Thursday as experts warned that the dangerous hazing ritual has killed at least one other person as fraternities are replacing alcohol bingeing with excessive water-drinking. ... Water bingeing is becoming an increasingly common hazing ritual, especially inside rogue frat houses such as Chi Tau, said Hank Nuwer of Indiana, a national expert on hazing and author of four books on the topic. ... '[T]hey think water is safer than alcohol, but it can also be deadly.' Forced water consumption and heavy exercise are known to dilute the salt content of blood to the point where it interferes with brain, heart and muscle function. Without enough sodium, the brain swells and victims can suffer fatal comas.... "
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...AGNSB576121.DTL

This is not an isolated incident.

"In March 2003, State University of New York freshman Walter Dean Jennings III was pledging a renegade fraternity that had also been expelled over drinking violations. He was forced to drink so many pitchers of water through a funnel that the sodium in his body dropped to lethal levels and his brain swelled. The autopsy confirmed he died of hyponatremia."

Anything done to excess will kill you.
