took apart my Church's lawn tractor engine to repair. Ever hear of a compression release camshaft? Nifty idea in theory, sucks in real world. Search 'Briggs & Stratton camshaft'. My Kubota L225 has that on a 3 cylinder diesel. I'm hoping it is designed a LOT better than the B&S. From what I read, it is 'when' it will fail, not 'if'.... Tractor mentality, they made it simple. If you read explosion the two pronged forks that bolt to the decompression shaft just pushed down on the valve spring retainer taking the pressure off the valve seat. Of course I could not find a picture of the fork in the parts manual, but the basic part numbers of the rest of the system are marked in red on the image. Really simple system just a pull cable out of the dash ![]() |
