I needed a day off because I drove it 1611 miles in the last 5 days. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Those tiles make for some intense sweaty grout work. Then the grout starts to take off. Then you're short and have to buy another bag.

Finally got this to a point where it was able to move under its own power for the first time in 20+ years. I’m in a thrash to get it as shaken down as possible before the Copperstate Overland event in early October,

I didn't work on the 914 but it did get pushed back in the garage after I completed a 2.7 swap in a 99' Boxster.

That is kind of 914 progress - and this off topic. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/evilgrin.gif)

Received the new foot pedal and gun from Eastwood yesterday. Got around to plumbing everything today. Need to pick up a couple more hose clamps to secure the media hose connections to finish that off.

Attached Image

Installed a new media metering valve too. It's supposed to work 100% better than the siphon tube that HF supplies with the cabinet.

Attached Image

... and then, still need to build a cart/dolly for it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif)

Whilst showing my wife the almost completed project, she reminded me that I need to finish up the front porch project we started last year (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

... so once the blast cabinet is done, I need to cut and install the door & window trim so she can start staining the wood to match the trim in our living & dining rooms.

I already have the 1x4 DF boards for the door and windows, just need to pick up some 1x6 Douglas Fir for the baseboards to start the job (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif)

Just need to refocus and get my butt in gear - "Happy wife, happy life" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

KSCarrera,

Nice Westfield. What engine, transmission and rear axle does it have?

I visited the Westfield factory in Birmingham in the 80's and met Chris Smith. The shop was full of cars and projects. There were still a few Westfield Elevens (Lotus Eleven replicas) around which were a favorite of mine.

Thanks - it's a late ’90s build, with 1600 Ford Crossflow (Anglia/Cortina/Escort) on dual 40DCOE Webers, cam, headers etc, hooked up to a five-speed Ford T9 trans from a Sierra. The rear end is Westfield's independent set-up using their own differential housing inside which is a Ford 'English' diff from an Escort. 125bhp doesn't seem a lot but in a car that weighs so little, it's fun without being too scary!

Love the Westfield Elevens – there are a couple of nice ones for sale at the moment and had I not got the 914 I'd be tempted...

KSCarrera,

Thanks for the description of your Westfield. I am always curious about the mechanical components in Lotus Seven style cars. Best of luck with your 914 and Westfield.

Tuesdays are street sweeping day here, and with a recent influx of new drivers on our block, parking spaces are getting harder to find. I noticed my tenant drove his car to work (normally rides his Harley), so I snagged the back driveway space with my '96 Tacoma.

I've been wanting to change the original spark plugs & wires for some time, as it's just turned over 131k miles - so that's what I did yesterday. Also cleaned the MAF sensor and throttle body, snugged up the valve covers and started 'detailing' the engine compartment with Purple Power spray (great stuff).

When my tenant got home, he asked if I could check out the charging system in his bike, as it didn't start in the morning. Battery read 12.9v at rest, but dropped to 10v and just clicked the solenoid when he attempted to start it. Stuck it on the charger for a few hours then started it up. Read 14.5 v, so the charging system appears to be fine. Maybe it's time for a new battery (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) - even though it's not that old. The original battery in my '98 Dyna lasted 17 years. ('Battery Tenders' are great little maintenance chargers).

... also, saw some moisture build-up in the headlights, and they appeared to be kind of dim, so I decided to install some new Halogen lamps. Interestingly, the lenses separated from the bodies when I removed the retainer rings (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Apparently the rubber seals failed, so it was probably only a matter of time until they stopped working completely (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

While I had the grille assembly out, noticed some of the black paint had worn off over the past 23 years, so I cleaned it up, masked it off and repainted it ...

I'm wondering if Mothers 'Back to Black' will restore the plastic valance to it's former glory (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Ukrainian license plate (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I have an AZ plate on the rear (no front required), but I left the old CA plate on to help deflect road debris from hitting the AC condenser behind it ... just installed it backwards and upside down (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Same here! I drove my 914 up to the reserve for cheaper gas, then to town for some errands and coffee. Nice couple hour drive.

I've fuched up my back...hurt like hell getting in and out...but I still had a grin ear to ear.
Nothing like the sound of a /6. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
